Hi Rich,
Just out of curiosity, why do you want to get rid of the vulgaris? Is it because it's too cold-sensitive for Jax area? I'm trying my luck with a vittata here (in Jax) and so far it's doing ok; of course, last winter was quite mild.

This bamboo is a little tender. We lost a few leaves but they grew right back. This plant is too close to a B malingensis and a B chungii and this one has to go. I've got the green light from the wife to plant another bamboo. If either of you want it come on by. Actually the plant is big enough for both of you. I also have some seedlings of Otatea glauca "Mayan Silver". It is a rare variety of Mexican Weeping. Let me know. Rich

Orchidnuts... any chance I could talk you into some of the mexican weeping seedlings? I'm in NC 27511 and have wanted to get some of the weeping variety.

I appreciate the offer but I'm also limited by space. I'm about ready to "offer for adoption" my B. Sinospinosa so that I will have room for something else. We've communicated in the past and I still hope to just get by and see your collection some time.

I live on the northside near the beach off heckscher drive. I don't have this plant anymore but my neighbor has lots and wants to get rid of some. He has some quite large plantings. Let me know.

I'm in San Diego and also have a big vitatta I need to dig. I do have the 3-4" culms and need to move it. Help me dig it and I'll split it with you.
BTW that mayan silver sounds interesting is there anything you might want to trade for it. I have other bamboos and some cymbidium orchids or pond plants.

I would love to have this bamboo but I live on the other side of the country in Florida. Also it is a little cool in the winters for me. BTW I have found a home for my vulgaris but I have a fried who has three plants for the digging. My Myan siver seedlings are doing great I will let them grow larger to see if there is any differences in the plants and then give them away. Rich

I think I can help you to dig you bamboo, and I gladly will accept a part of you boo, I live in San Felipe, im four hours from you but I dont have any truck or pick up to pick that bamboo, I think I must cut the bamboo to take only the rootball with a big cane to fit in my car trunk, do you think it will live that way?

Alex, I'd suggest that you put the rootball on the floor on the front passenger side and get a culm that you can top just above a node, so that will fit up against the rear window. I think that you'll get more cane this way than what would fit in the trunk and you do not want to drive 4 hours with the culm exposed to the wind/sun.

Also, save the culm parts that you have to 'top' and you may be able to make cutting from them as well.

Also, put the rootball in a garbage bag or bucket and water it. THis keeps the roots from drying out, and where you are driving four hours you definitely don't want that.

I also agree with hoosier52...lay the p-side seat down and place the rootball on the floorboard and put as mcuh of the cane into the car you can.

Doug, I'd be VERy interested in your B. Sinospinosa if you decide to look for a home for it.!
