Hi: I have been into bamboo for probably 10 years, which means I have too much. All my bamboo is cool. I'm sorry that I cannot ship. If you would like to come here and dig, please email me and I will give you more info about varieties. I do not necessarily need anything in trade. I have too many plants. That can happen when you have lots of bamboo. I am in West Seattle. Bamboos will be shooting soon, so the sooner you dig the better.

Alex, I'd suggest that you put the rootball on the floor on the front passenger side and get a culm that you can top just above a node, so that will fit up against the rear window. I think that you'll get more cane this way than what would fit in the trunk and you do not want to drive 4 hours with the culm exposed to the wind/sun. Also, save the culm parts that you have to 'top' and you may be able to make cutting from them as well.

Got bumped over at Bamboo so I am posting the information here in the Pac NW Exchange. I am trying to help a friend of the family that are caretakers to an estate here on the Kitsap Penninsula. Location is Silverdale. 35 minutes from Tacoma or a short ferry ride from the I-5 corridor. Species is Psuedosasa japonica AKA "arrow bamboo". Positive ID from our friend Kudzu9. Two groves each one @ 10' in diameter with stragglers. Each one needs to go. An opportunity to help these folks out and give some bamboo a new home. I would be remiss if I did not give props to Kudzu9. I first asked if he would be available to assist but his schedule did not allow. This being my first dig, he has given me invaluable advice on how to schedule and then finally how to get this stuff out of the ground. I will limit this to a "first come, first on the list". This is hard work. There is a balance between having enough strong backs and having folks stepping on each other. Email me if you can make it. Please, if you commit make every attempt to show up or let me know right away so I can offer the chance to others. Would like to start as early as possible. Weather permitting, I will host a BBQ at my house for those who want to stay after the dig. In advance, my P. Nigra does not need thinning. I have a Sentry so I know the plight of being suv-less and trying to make things fit. On one side of the house, they're about 3' tall, smaller on the other side. They're not getting enough sun and getting leggy, so they can be cut back to fit in the car. Probably should be cut back anyway to encourage bushier growth. Lori sent a copy to you via email as well.
