It could be that when you separated the 2 plants, you lost alot of the root system of each and thus the plants are compensating by aborting some of the existing growth. Meanwhile, they're both probably growing brand new roots (ie., often when nothing is happening on top, something is happen underground). I think patience is in order and hopefully some new growth will sprout soon.

If the pot you moved it into is much larger than the pot it came from - it might actually be too wet and rotting off at the roots. If the terracotta pot has only a small drainage hole (or none) then water could be sitting at the bottom of the pot for too long. If your potting mix has a lot of peat in it - that can be unsuitable for many plants which prefer good drainage and air spaces around their roots. You might want to downsize your pot to a plastic one that allows no more than an inch all round from the size of the original one. You could use your terracotta one as a cache-pot with some pebbles in the bottom for the real pot to rest on. That would actually keep the roots cool, too. Move it on before the roots start circling the pot or growing out the bottom. Next move could be early spring but be ultra-careful about watering and temperature changes then. It can be so easy to overwater then be caught by a cool spell and lose a lot of roots (or even plants) to rotting off. As the plant is still quite small and you will, hopefully, be upsizing the pots for a while to come then a simple arrangement of canes might be easier to cope with than anything like a trellis.

a pic would be helpfull. what type of potting soil did you use ? is it in full sun ? if the plant is in full sun and growing fast,, it needs more nutrients. if you used a potting soil that doesnt really have enough, then its a problem. i would also check moisture. put your finger down an inch or 2 in the soil. it should be damp, but not wet... i add mulch to the top of my containers, just like i do to my plants in-ground. - compost is even better! it keeps the soil damp, but not wet, and you dont have to water as often starfruit like to dry out between waterings. (maybe the container soil is holding too much water, or, you are watering too often ?) the brown tips usually means lack of water OR, over-watering , white could mean lack of nitrogen, but its hard to tell without a pic. if its growing fast, it needs nitrogen. i would use worm tea, or compost tea, or maybe a fish fertilizer. it will take a few days for organic fertilizers to be taken up by the roots
