Going green + how to deep water?
Comments (4)Starting with Problem 3. what does you soil need? What did a good, reliable soil test say about what that soils needs? Problem 4. Depending on the weather your lawn needs about 1 inch of water per week and it is best to water enough at any one time to get that water deep into the soil, 6 to 8 inches down. But then hot and windy weather can cause moisture evaporation which can mean your lawn needs to be watered more often. Problem 2. The grass will grow back, eventually. As a rule after about 6 weeks you could overseed although my experience is that the grass will be growing back on its own by then. Problem 1. The presence of clover, most likely White Dutch Clover, indicates a protenial Nitrogen problem. A good, reliable soil test will help here because there are several things you need to know about what is in your soil to intelligently determine what to feed that soil. What is the soil pH? What is the balance between Calcium and Magnesium? What is the level of organic matter in the soil? Organic matter opens up clay soils so both nutrients and water are more readily available to plants and in sand it helps hold both nutrients and water in the soil so plants can utilize them. Grasses need about 2 pounds of Nitrogen per 1,000 square feet per year to grow well. 1/2 of that can come from the grass clippings, so mulch mowing is one of the better things to do. How much more Nitrogen needs to be added only a good, reliable soil test can tell you. Too much Nitrogen is a waste of your money since the excess simply flows out and pollutes the ground water....See MoreHelp, how deep planting potted tree peony
Comments (3)When you plant have the ground at least above the white band. B is the start of the grafted area. If you take a close look at the picture right below the white band are two bumps. These are start of branches. By having the dirt above these you should have tree peony stems coming up from these bumps. Some growers, Rick Rogers, place a band similar to the white one to tell the purchasers how deep to plant the tp. I can't tell if this is what the band is for or does it have a name on it.? This is an excellent picture to discuss some of the things to look for when purchasing a tp. If you notice the area between the leaves is short. The peony should be a moderate to slow grower. A really slow grower would have less space between the leaves. Alice Harding generally has less than 1/4 to 1/2 inch between. A faster grower might have 3-5 inches beween. The plant already has two stems If you would plant deeper than the white band and have a fuller plant. I would plant to where both branches are just under the soil. You have a very nice plant....See MoreDeep drip tree watering stakes
Comments (2)Save your money. Create a two-inch tall berm around the tree, then fill the inner "pool" with water and allow it to soak in. Repeat if needed until water has penetrated 12 - 15 inches deep. To verify that has occurred, stick a trowel in the soil. Repeat filling the inner "pool" as often as is needed by the tree....See MoreHow deep do you plant a rose tree?
Comments (2)Since pots have finite space, the issue with deep planting in a pot is that you've wasted a fair amount of pot space. The more usual thing is to plant them at a normal depth, and use a stake for stability. You will probably find out they need staking anyway....See Moresoftmentor
