Hello, I have been Blessed with having a few of those Precious glass wind chimes ... I still have one in its original box!!! And one wind chime that is missing a few glass pieces.. I have been making “ ART WIND CHIMES “FOR OVER 30 years... I am driven to create very unique one of a kind Wind chimes... I use a variety of unusual nice sounding materials . each strand is strung with deep thoughts of harmony . and take many hours ( weeks, months?) to create ... Bonita: I see your question was from January but had a couple of thoughts even if they are a bit late. Or did you plant something already? First we have ordered TONS of plants and trees from Forest Farm (link below) and you just cannot go wrong. Everything always arrives in a very timely fashion and well packaged. I have ordered a couple of plants from Gurneys and it has always been a nightmare. I'll never do it again. If you want lush plants that are the size described order from Forest Farm. They also have an unbelievable selection. On that note, we ordered six Thuja Green Giant trees from Forest Farm this year for the purpose of creating a privacy screen in the back yard. Although I thought they perhaps could have been a bit lusher they were nice trees, about five feet tall and very healthy. I would recommend these trees for being reasonably fast growing. In my experience with the five I have from a few years ago they don't grow three feet in a year like the hype says but they are lovely, tough little trees that make a hedge. Again, thanks for all the interesting and helpful comments. My friend does has a lot of room to play around with. She has twelve acres enclosed with deer proof fencing with trails and special vignettes with seating and memorial plantings throughout. She is a very experienced gardener with many years experience and has done quite a bit of research on trees. As mentioned above she has one Chinese pistache and likes it. She wants to play around with silver maples just for fun. Incidentally, she planted some Mexican White Oaks which she got from a special source and she feels they are the 'real thing' and not mixed. The original question remains: CAN ANYONE POINT TO A RELIABLE SOURCE THAT SELLS BARE ROOT CHINESE PISTACHE AND SILVER MAPLE? Or if that's not a possibility then separately. She'd prefer them bare root and shipped together to cut down on costs. She would prefer to have tree nursery recommendations from you all rather than taking a shot in the dark. Many thanks!

i hear ya horster ... you are correct.. i have no experience in this particular tree .. he said he is willing to kill it .. all i am saying.. is play with it.. learn something new .. if it works.. whatever it is.. he learns something .. and then kills it.. lol ... if it doesnt work.. he learns something.. and then he kills it.. lol ... no need to simply chuck it in the burn pile.. w/o learning something ... i had a redbud.. that refused all attempts at structure... actually dad bought it for me.. for my first house ... and they also .... dont like to conform to the tree norm .. so he came over.. once a year.. and chopped it to a straight trunk ... and then kept coming back all summer.. and messing with it ... and i swear he chopped it to the ground 3 years running ... i really didnt care what he did with his tree.. as mom brought her bachelor son left over dinner, when they came over.. lol ... and eventually.. he got what he wanted out of it.. and i got fed 'mom's cookin' .... and we left a 20 foot beautifully formed redbud.. when i moved out 10 years later ... what did i know.. i though he was nuts.. but he was having fun.. learning ... ken ps: if you do cut to straight trunk.. the cut is not flat.. its at a 45 degree angle.. with.. if you can find one.. a bud within about a half inch of the top edge ... this sheds water.. and will allow for healing when the trunk grows to many more inches thick ...
