Kellogg Breakfast & others shipping March 1st

A few weeks a ago someone was asking about Kellogg Breakfast. I did a search and could not find the thread to post this in. While looking around I found a seller who has them and many others available to ship starting March 1st.

I have extra great looking 24" tomato plants and I'm having a hard time finding people to give them to. Even so this seller has me more than tempted by some of his tomato and pepper varieties. I don't know of anyone else who ships this early.

Well I made purchase from these guys. They have good ratings at eBay and The Garden Watchdog and Amazon.com. I was hoping to be able to mix and match and not have to buy four packs but they said they do not sell plants that way.

Here is what I got.

Pink Brandywine Tomato 4 Plants
Juliet Tomato 4 Plants
Giant Marconi Pepper - 4 Plants

Not sure what I'm going to do with all of them. I only purchased them because I'm nearly ready to plant all my seedlings. I just didn't want to have to start more plants from seed this late.

bigdaddy, I saw this question last night and was going to answer the same as you did, re CRUD, which I named many years ago, but I reread it and reread it and saw that only the tips turned brown and that's not typical of CRUD. CRUD causes browning of the leaf margins, not just the tips. And browning of the leaf tips can indicate overwatering or N burn, but as they say, on the other hand we're talking only one variety, KB, and KB and most varieties that have wispy, droopy dissected foliage as is common with most heart varieties are indeed more susceptible to CRUD. So whatever it might be I don't think it's serious and the plants should do fine when planted out. As a side note last night I was Googling something and ran across the Faculty page at Cornell for Dr. Tom Zitter who is the person I first contacted about what I had been seeing and the person who told me that he knew it, and thought it was an aberrent form of Early Blight ( A. solani), but hadn't been able to prove it. THere was a direct e-mail address listed for him and I just might ask him if anything new has been discovered. Just picked a nice big yellow one for my 4th of july burger. Am very happy with you Carolyn (got it at sandhill again your recommendation) and to many others that picked these as your top picks. 1st time grower of this and a hand full of others BFTula, Cher purple, Aunt Gerties etc. Early girl won with 3 red ones Sun and 2 today but the single kelloggs is putting them to shame.

Hi all, I come by and check but don't read everything. I see Marci and Dee said hi, and maybe others have, too. My family's left. I don't know if I mentioned it, but they were successful in their attempt to set up swimming with the dolphins. I couldn't go to that, but did get to swim in the ocean. That's not something I can ordinarily do because of my illness and disabilities. I tried to post a couple of days ago, but everything that came out sounded upset and I didn't want to scare anyone. :) I've been ill the last few days. I talked to my doctor and she said it sounds like viral meningitis. That's the mild kind, not the kind that can leave a person brain damaged or dead, so its nothing to worry about, just uncomfortable - who needs more pain and fatigue. I might go in to her office tomorrow. Tropical Storm Celia went by here yesterday. She was a hurricane a few days ago, but diminished. There was thunder and lightning and heavy rain and winds, but nothing too damaging. Just enough excitement but not too much. I've got into anime for reasons I won't go into. I ordered Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Has anyone here seen it? Does anyone know or remember the song by Don McLean, "Chain Lightning?" I've always liked that song. Very dramatic. My internet relationship, which I talked about earlier, is still going strong - seven months now. I said that he is very unhappy and troubled, which is still true, but he has turned out to be also very caring, intelligent, and sweet. I hope we can continue to be friends for a long time, and I hope his situation improves for him. I've been reading about the get together next year. Remember, I'd like a video. :) I know that it will be a blast. It's nice to come here and have this group. You are such a loving bunch where all are welcome. There have been so many ups and downs, but people are always supportive and caring. Love to you, thanks for remembering me, and I hope everyone has a good day. I'm not spending as much time here as I was, which may change (who knows) but I won't get lost. It's been so frustrating to me when others that I care about quit posting and then I never know how they are doing. Also I've asked my son to let people here know if anything happens to me so that everyone won't be wondering. He knows how important this group has been to me. Amy

Mindimoo - LOVE it all, the pie and esp. the marble. To you, mnhockey and rmkitchen, I am weeks away from starting the big project with marble picked out (ok, just for the island but still excited) and now my contractor has disappeared. Scrambling to find someone else and keep to original timeframe as our cabinets have been ordered! Anyway, for some reason I am not panicking yet and am dreaming of the many various ways in which my NEW kitchen will function better, hoping the months of painstaking planning will pay off. Probably won't be posting a summery treat but maybe some good fall soups or gratins, or a thanksgiving turkey - god willing it will be done by then! Sorry to veer off topic but love seeing the kitchens in action!

They ship March 1st. I assume they will be fairly small since they are sold in a "Four Pack".

I was the one looking for Kellog's breakfast plants. It looks like I missed your post earlier. oh well. I'm not crazy about buy plants by mail. Was hoping to buy locally or maybe split an order with someone already ordering by mail but it looks like you already ordered your plants.

greendesert I almost bought the Kellogg's breakfast. But I was talking to my wife and we decided on the Pink Brandywine. She and I both remember eating them growing up and neither one of has had one in over thirty years. They don't usually produce many fruit so I plan on planting all four.

Can you say Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich?

They all arrived yesterday. I'm so busy trying finish getting my garden ready that I don't have time to take pictures and post them. They look OK but nothing to write home about. They are all roughly 4"-6" tall with some minor leaf damage. As soon as I get a chance I need to spray them to prevent blight and white mold.

Thisisme, have you grown the marconi peppers before? I grew them last year and they were amazing. I transplanted them mid May, they sailed through the summer heat, started producing late August and were still loaded up when this last freeze got them. I'm starting seeds again now, had sure hoped they'd overwinter and by golly they almost made it!

sundrop07 I've never grown them but I have read about them at Cornell University's Vegetable Varieties for Gardeners and in the Garden Web Vegetable forum. Nothing but rave reviews but no one ever really talks about taste other than they are excellent or great. As far as flavor goes is there anything you can compare them to.
