It was bad here today too. I needed to get so much stuff done & they said that we could have thundershowers so I was hoping that if it did rain it wouldn't be for long. Well when I woke up it was raining and then the sun came out for about 5 mins. and then it kept up for the rest of the day. This year has been great for being nice all week and then raining or getting cold on the weekends. It just puts me further and further behind.

The weather hasn't been really great here either. We've had daytime highs in the 50's and nighttime lows in the 30's for the last week, and now they're saying 90 degrees by Friday! Holy cow, what next?

This is the coldest Spring I can remember. Today it is 48 degrees now, raining and windy, supposed to go all the way up to 51!
I planted a couple of things yesterday and I hope they survive the rain and the wind. I hope also my small fences survive.

I'm right there with you! I went and looked at plants this past weekend and bought a modest few. I knew I couldn't go nuts though. We're expecting another frost thursday night!!!! I'm sitting in my office right now in a sweater, wishing our landlord would turn the heat back on. I was thinking of getting out there in the garden and digging, but with this weather, I'm very unmotivated.

Took today off to do a big planting out and it is like a monsoon out there - - no way can I spend the day in the yard. Sigh. I suppose I could do something off the list of projects that have piled up INSIDE the house but I don't want to!!!!!!!! (stamping feet)

We have had a smattering of warmish/sunny days here and there, but mostly this spring has been cold, gray and long!!!!!!! I am so sick of it. Even though quite a bit has sprouted in my containers, the seedlings have been stalled at "tiny tiny" for weeks.

I'm right there with you. A few nice warm days here and there, but overall cold, cloudy, and wet. My yard is a swamp. Containers soaking, dripping wet. Another inch of water in my rain gauge yesterday.

Waiting for some calls now, trying to get my Mom scheduled for a medical procedures. Will try to stick some things in the ground today, but I know the soil in the containers will just fall apart when I touch them because they're so wet. They never dry out, haven't watered them yet this year.

I know, last year I bit**ed about heat and drought. I just want a happy medium.

Same here in Massachusetts. Cold, windy, rainy, one day in 7 maybe has sun. I was reading about people who have finished planting out already, or are dumping unsprouted containers and I haven't even started planting out. We haven't had enough warmth or sun for things to sprout or grow enough to plant out. My poppies have been stalled at the first set of true leaves for a month. I haven't even dared to take the covers off.

Very cool and wet here in NC but I don't even want to complain after what we went through last summer, fall and winter. The watersheds are getting nice and full and we have finally had drought restrictions lifted with a cautionary note. The plants that I have gotten out are loving the weather but alas so are the weeds and it is too wet to try and pull them. I am trying to look at the bright side but I also want to 'play' in the gardens but ground is far too wet for that. I am getting alot of much needed cleaning up of my containers and shade house. Window boxes and containers are getting planted so all is not lost......

A little cool but actually seasonal weather here - finally. The last weeks have been spotted with beautiful warm days and no frost at night and things have taken off and gone bonkers. Never have I had to water containers in May or worry about the temps inside the containers, but this year I've had to.

It looks like I won't have to worry this week since things are going no higher than 13C during the days and we have received some much needed rain.

Your Lupines are now on their third set of true leaves and your Bishop's Amaranth germinated to the WOW! factor. Your seeds are definitely not sh*##'y!! :O)

Totally rotten weather here also!! I am freezing. Frost is predicted for tonight.
I put supper in the crock pot and then spent the day replanting some of the things that haven't come up. Not everything that didn't show, just the things that I just 'had' to have. Also planted a few things that I just received the seeds, and will plant inside like hot hungarian peppers.
I did go outside to look at my containers (between rains) and found that I have several things that had sprouted and are now shrivelled up. I had protected them from the frost on the nights that we had it, but apparently they couldn't take the cold or something. Some will get replanted and others won't as I either don't have more seeds or I can just live without them for this year and hope that the seed is still okay for next year.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and 19, but I will be working...today was my day off and the weather was typical!! ;-)

lynne: Glad to hear that your water conditions have improved since last year. Is that true for much of the south? I have noted that quite a few rainy stormy systems have hit you folks, but haven't seen anything in the news lately about water tables and lake levels, etc.

As I said, I hate to complain, too, after last year's drought and extreme heat. But this is getting ridiculous.
