Your WS plants are so big!! I had to go to the nursery and buy some plants so I didn't get depressed...

I planted some jugs on Mother's Day and slowly, bunnies are snatching the leaves. The neighbor's dogs are chasing the bunnies and doing the stems in - LOL.

I now own a live trap but my WS babies are so much tastier then store bought lettuce and carrots.

I'm not planting anymore WS babies until they are bigger.

I'm still full of faith and I know what is still alive in the jugs will be beautiful!!

Mmqchdygg, I was looking for something wide and shallow for my sedums, that could stay out all winter without cracking, and that is all I could find. Originally, I had envisioned something shaped more like a large pasta bowl. It wasn't until I was on the way home from Lowe's that I realized it was a Devo hat!

Kris, the trellis is my way of expanding my veggies, since my tiny vegetable bed is not enough space. I also plan to grow okra 'Red Burgundy' in the flower bed too, if I can get the sprouts to survive. I'm on my third planting. They germinate, and then stall out every time. Not sure what the problem is.

Deb, the plants in pots on the porch are doing great, but most of the sprouts I've put in the ground have not survived. I've tried to put chairs or baskets over them, to provide some shade, and keep them well watered, but nothing seems to be working. It might be some kind of bacterial wilt, or fungus. I really don't have a clue. If you have rabbits, you might want to put chicken wire cages around your sprouts, like Carrie does.

The Alyssum 'Golden Queen' is very striking. Is it fragrant as well?

Mnwsgal, I didn't notice any scent when they were blooming, maybe only the annual Alyssum is scented?

I got my wintersown tomatoes planted out this weekend. They don't really show up in the picture, but they are planted in front of each T-post.

Okay, one more picture for you veggie growers!

Made from five kinds of lettuce, Cherry Belle radishes, Summer Savory (my first time to grow, and I really like the flavor), and a chive blossom, which I had to fight the bees to get.

This is my second week of harvesting salad greens and radishes, and with all of the rain we have had this past week, they are growing like crazy. Hopefully, by the time the lettuce starts to bolt, it will be time to start harvesting fresh peppers and tomatoes.

Bonnie, okra loves heat. I planted mine three weeks ago directly in the ground and it's just getting it's first true leaves. You might need to wait just a bit. See if you can find seeds for Clemson spineless. It's a good okra for home growing.

Token, starting them indoors and then putting them outside after they germinated seemed to work. I picked the Red Burgundy because it was so ornamental, and since it was going in the perennial bed, I wanted something decorative and edible. I'm not even sure if my family will even eat okra, LOL! I'm from the south originally though, so I'm thinking maybe if it's breaded and fried they'll give it a try. If not, I'll freeze it, and use it for soups and stews during the winter months.

... and this one was wintersown in '07, and the clump it much larger and taller this year. It's Verbascum 'Southern Charm', and my only complaint is that the catalog photos always show a variety of colors - creams, peaches, yellows, but mine is all lavender ... and most of you know I try to stick with reds, yellows and oranges in the garden.
