Nice! Usually the only things that reseed in my pots are alyssum and sometimes a petunia or two. But this year, I've found a couple of Yvonne's salvia reseeds, and best of all - three sweet autumn clematis!

Of course, the birds have no problem planting seeds for me - last year they planted (what was identified as) a siberian elm in the pot with my dead fig tree. The elm is still alive and growing this year!

same here- have tons of seedlings- just found bunch of japonica primulas in every crevice of stone patch and virginia bluebells are able to send their seeds pretty far from parent plant. Found something near cimicifugas/ have several varieties of them/ but am not sure since it would be first time I noticed seedlings. Clematis tangutica keeps coming third year in a row after being eliminated... I do not even mention corydalis lutea which is about to take over one bed. Since my garden is informal I do not mind plants growing in every direction. Am lucky to have very few weeds but still afraid to pull anything out for fear that it was unrecognized treasure ;)

Every year I buy the little Gypsy Rose gypsophilia and plant it in the same container. Last summer, in the heat, it quit blooming and died down. I was cleaning up the container and saw hundreds of little seedlings, so I just watered it and got a great second blooming. Well, this spring, the container is just overloaded with little green seedlings, which I will thin out and replant in other spots. So, thus far, three growings from one purchase!

I just found some Heliopsis Summer Sun reseeds yesterday. There's zillions of them in a garden where I was going to mulch this weekend. I figure I'll take a whole bunch out and do a mass planting somewhere. I can see some more lawn disappearing in the near future!

Waiting to see if some will be true to their grandparent which was a Lorraine Sunshine Heliopsis (winter sown 2004/2005). One of them seems to have the variegation. :O)

I love to poke around in the garden to see what has reseeded. There are more reseeders out there this year than ever before. I always let a bunch grow but have to weed out a lot too. Here's what's reseeded, annuals and perennials -

So I get lots of reseeders in the gardens - winter-sowing this year has made it even more fun because I can grow lots of new little seedlings!!

oh yes, agastache and of course, poppies - great reseeders!

Also, catmint - another good one! I never seem to get as many cosmos as I would like, but even a couple of nice ones is better than none at all - free plants.

I sure could use you guys in my yard. I go around saying "I wonder if that's a gaillardia or rudbeckia". "I wonder if this is more rudbeckia or some emilia?"

The verbena bonariensis remains a plague out there- I just can't get rid of it. I spent hours on it today.

I did find a few zinnia- no doubt from a dumped container that I forgot about. (My zinnias all sprouted, but whatever soil might be leftover in the jug, I dump into beds. No doubt the source of these zinnias).

I wish my Verbena Bonariensis would reseed more! I got this plant from a neighbour's beach one day. Small little thing was having a hard time growing and the neighbour said to take it. It had just shown up, probably sown by the birds. It's not offered locally here in the nurseries and I've had it in the garden for 5 years now not knowing what it was. When placing a seed order this winter, I happened upon it!!

The footing is now two feet wide, and in the five years there have only been two re-seeders in the gardens.

Both Heliopsis which I have will bloom in their first year and in the second year will be a sizable plant. I just found two good sized (obviously second year) young plants today of the Lorraine Sunshine. Trying to keep them somewhat separate from the Summer Sun.

I haven't sown verbena bona. since my first year - and since then, I just go around and replant the reseeds. I loved them the first year, but now I am not as big a fan (?) don't know why...maybe because they are a bit too tall for my liking.

Karen - If I am not mistaken (and I could be), I think that the emilia reseeds are green on one side and a bit reddish on the other. I remember finding a lot last year and the seedlings were bi-colored. They are cute little flowers, aren't they?

Tiff - whatever you post always looks beautiful - I love looking at your pictures. Good luck with your new bed.

Thanks for that tip on the emilia, Carrie. It's dark now, but I'll check them out tomorrow. I grew emilia last year and really liked them. Sowed a jug of them this year and not one germinated. I finally gave up and dumped them a few days ago, but, of course, I don't remember where.

I found some salvia coral nymph volunteers, but have yet to find a spot for them. They are pretty, but I just can't seem to find them a good home in my beds.

Tiffy, with all that good organic soil/compost, I'm surprised that you don't get verbena bonariensis volunteers. Must be a climate thing. They even overwinter here.

My biggest mistake this year was not sowing enough short annuals. I need some for the front of some beds.

karen - if you dumped the container, they will definitely grow - there is no stopping them and they are unbelievable reseeders, but i think they show up late - I mean it is almost June and mine are just showing up and i am in Zone 7. I bet you get a lot in the area where you dumped - let us know. Also, Karen, I am putting melampodium reseeds in the front border, I think they might look good in the front - I'll post pictures when they bloom - which will be awhile

I love the coral salvias too!
