Baby Joey is smiling!! (pics)

And it's a BIG smile! Boy, when he smiles he doesn't fool around! :-)

The quality of these photos is disappointing because the lenses on my cameras were fogged up. The air is thick with humidity today. I hope the lenses are okay. But I had so much fun getting little Joey to smile at me.

But he had his serious moments, too....like when he gave solving the economic crisis his best shot:

and when he just settled back and gazed at the beauty of nature.

But then it was time to start smiling again.

Anyone else have some grandchildren to share? Moni, I haven't seen Nathan and Allison in a while. And we're always eager to see Carol in California's two beauties.....

Mara, that is so true and we have experienced it over and over, this past week(s), but when I got the capture with my old mobile, we cried with joy...funny how soft you get! LOL! Jeff, Yeah, both Aloes are a pleasure for sure and see the height above pots, those little claws hanging down - some of the cono's may look tasty. At the moment the roof seems to be a real interest, looks like he likes "engineering" more...hehe! Glad you liked it.

Hi Laura (seventowers6)- I hope you are still checking on this thread you started in 10'05 - just last May H Depot had a bunch that was brought in as a fundraiser for 'childrens' cancer cure' I purchased 3 (in bloom) as Hines claims her to be z5 hardy there was not much info on the tag except for the very alluring color changes on both blooms and foliage and that she was a Mac/serrata cross. I'm so glad to see your posted photos, many thanks!!! It would be wonderful to hear from your adventure with her this past season - rate of her growth, overwintering efforts you had to do for her etc. I realize that you are a notch or so higher than my zone. 'I would very much appreciate you response!!! I too went through some rough times in July as we had 2 weeks of heat wave - all three limped out quite a bit but I babied them and all 3 faired well after. Planted in 2 diff locations in the yard, 1 in an ideal E-exposure with dappled shade. 2 in W-facing foundation strip under eaves also dappled shaded (I had to move 1 of the 2 as she was getting more PM sun than she can tolerate, now a neighbor to the E-exp one, she simply took off! The one left in the W spot did OK and sported the promised merlot color foliage change before our 1st freeze. I intend to move her in the E spot (better in the Spring as suggested by an experienced aficionado) since she did OK there for now - just didn't grow as well. I just finished partially protecting and corralling all three - will wait a week or two before more serious overwintering efforts - how did you protect yours? 'Would love to hear!!! Many thanx! ditas

I'm right there with everyone else who says, "it can't have been seven months since Joey was born!" Seems like you were just posting about it a month or so ago. He is just such a cutie pie, and so happy, too!! You're one lucky grandmother, that's for sure!

This photo should be on a magazine cover! Absolutely adorable! I know what dianamo means; I smiled back. I also had to smile at myself because when I read the subject line of this thread, I thought I was going to see a picture of a little kangaroo.

I can't think of anything better than a baby's smile...except when they get those hysterical laughing bouts! He is adorable.

It does indeed, Susan! There are few things more exciting than a baby's first smiles. And no end to the number of things we grownups will do to elicit one. :-)

Even looking at these pictures, I can't help smiling back at him.

We had lunch out yesterday with DS, DIL, DGS (6) and DGD. Genevieve just had her 6-mos. checkup. She is in the 99th percentile: 18 lbs. Not fat, just BIG! Gosh, is she strong! I had to hold on hard while she arched her back and wanted to do 'Upside Down Baby'.

She's a big flirt too. As we were waiting for the check, a lady stopped by our table to fawn over the baby. Nate got right between them, all concerned, and asked, "Do we KNOW this lady?" Such fun.

I have a new Grandson, the first born to my middle son and his wife on Sept. 1st. The only pics I have are ones sent via cell phone and they are tiny pics. I will post a good pic. when I get some.

He weighed 7 pounds and was born with a full head of red hair. His name is Sean Alexander Phoenix and he's a beauty!
