Thanks for the replies! The Ash is becoming plentiful in our old neighborhood (started about 1958). The trees have gotten large and dangerous due to rotted forks (from holding water. Two of three 18-24â dia limbs have blown off the 36âÂÂ+ dia tree during the last two fronts. I have reported some to the City when the limbs extend over the street and can go at any time. With the documented picture and address The City usually gets on it quick (cutting it back past the streetâÂÂs easement). My point is that IâÂÂm not the first to see the danger (from the home owners to many City Employees traveling by daily). I have had good apple flavored meats here from Restaurants. Most Homeowners and BBQ Businesses go with our strong supply of Mesquite, Pecan, Hickory for flavors and Live Oak, Black Jack Oak, for heat (vs Red Oak and Post Oak's bitter flavor). All woods are seasoned a year, except some know how to use a small piece of green Hickory (âÂÂthe last 30-45â minutes of the smoking).

It is a cross between rosa eglanteria and Ballet, a hybrid tea. I chose it due to the eglanteria parent, which is pretty cold hardy here. It was bred by Kordes, who field tested his roses for disease resistance and cold hardiness. Here it is so far about 3 feet high and of lovely form in bloom. Its flowers remind you of hybrid teas and old garden roses at once. It could be a lot bigger in your climate. It has a mild scent. It is great to sit and look at from a few feet away, due to its great shape and flowers. It blooms once a year here. I hate to recommend anything to people in your climate, but that is a wonderful rose for me. One drawback is the rose fades to white and becomes a muddle when it ages.

Seysonn,, I don't agree with what you said. Let me give a link that showed that Salmonella, which I referred to above, can directly get into the flesh of tomatoes. I also said it wouldbe rare for Salmonella to do so, but it serves as a protoptype for this. Bacteria, fungi and parasites and viruses and viroids cannot be taken up by the roots b'c they are too big to do so. Root hairs are only several microns wide while what I mentioned above as to bacteria and fungi are MANY microns wide, depends on thes pecific pathogen. The soilborne systemic diseases we know of,like Fusarium and Verticillium attach to specific attachement sites ON the exterior of root hairs but Salmonella and Campylobacter and the enterotoxigenic E.coli s,for example, have no attachment sites on the root hairs. I just got an e-mail yestrday, from George, a tomato friend,who lives near Rocky Ford, CO on the western slope which is reknowned for their melons and also peaches. And I know this b'c I spent many years in Denver and we looked forward to those making it over the Rockies to Eastern CO. Last year George sent me some Rocky Ford melons and they were great. But it's taken quite a few years to get them being popular again when several of the largest lplaces were shut down b'c of bacterial interior contamination of their melons. Lol. It's actually at the park across the street from my house when HOA asked me to plant trees with low budget last year. I had read that it was fast grower so I figured why not get it at 12 bucks (5g/3feet). It grew like 6 inches when I was hoping for a several feet since it was pretty small to begin with so I thought it wouldn't take that long to get established before growing rapidly. I'm just afraid of neighborhood kids destroying a baby tree... By the way, I am planning on donating 'Fire Dragon' shantung maple to the park when I move Live Oak to a better spot with more space. It's a little too close to Montezuma cypress where it will provide shade on the playground. Where Live oak is, it won't do much as far as providing shade. It's on the north side of playground. 'Fire Dragon' will go in its place. It won't get too big to get in the way of MC tree.
