Kate, blooms of Kordes' rose Parole (Buxom Beauty) are easily 6" across. Strong fragrance is a bonus. It is dark pink, not red, though.

If big blooms really make your heart sing, you need to move to the Pacific Northwest for several weeks every spring for their first bloom. Those blooms grow slowly so the petals put on size before they begin to open. Then they open slowly and put on even more size. The size of those blooms puts our efforts to get size on our blooms into a rather sad perspective.
When we use super bloom and do the high fertilizer, perfect watering and spraying, we're just trying to match what nature does out there.
Mr. Lincoln can make really big blooms, go for plants that are virus indexed. Liebeszauber can make big blooms as well. In the older deep pinks, the classic First Prize (again search for a virus indexed version) can be breathtaking.

One other thing you can do is find which rootstock does best in your soil and then make your own roses. (I guess PNW spring vacations might be easier.)

The biggest, most monster blooms I have ever seen in my life were my Paul Neyron flowers. A pretty dark pink. They were massive last summer! My bush is only one, but it is tending to be vertical.

That's great news about our blooms being biggest. We have to wait so long for them, big blooms are at least a consolation. I get to hear from all my family in CA how they have all these great blooms and I'm waiting, waiting.... (I have lilacs, peonies and rugosas though, hee hee!)

Kate, Peter Mayle gets my vote too. I love mine, huge flowers and fragrance.

You have got to grow Peter Mayle to believe the size of it's blooms! And it's equally big on fragrance.

Alec's Red is not a slouch in these parts. The fragrances also makes me swoon. I can't wait till it is blooming for me again. I don't yet have Peter Mayle but it is on my list for when one bites the dust.

As far as I know Peter Mayle will be very tall, over 6-7' but has huge blooms; not very productive though, I am told.

Parole (Buxom Beauty) fits your requirement perfectly. It is a medium sized bush, productive and the blooms are huge and very fragrant dark pink. Blooms are bigger than Elina's.
I will not say that it is spotless but so far it has better than average disease resistance.

In red, Crimson Glory is your plant of those I am familiar with or grow. Mine (own root)is not 4' tall yet but about 4' wide. Very fragrant and produces huge blooms. I cannot capture reds well, but here are the best I can present you with

If Hybrid Perpetuals grow well where you are I would suggest Henry Nevard. Sorry I don't have a photo. It's one of my favorite roses, deep wine red huge and fragrant flowers.

A couple of really great deep pink ones are DUBLIN and FIRST ENTERPRISE.

DUBLIN can get blooms up to about 5-6", altho in my hotter climate, that only seems to occur in fall. In your climate, they will probably be pretty good-sized most of the season. If I remember correctly, I believe it smells pretty good. The only problem with it is it might need spraying. I don't spray, and it does get some powdery mildew.

FIRST ENTERPRISE is a nice big deep pink that I found at Hortico a few yrs ago. The blooms are not as big as DUBLIN, but average 4-5" most of the season. The blooms are nicely shaped and last a long time. I don't remember if it has any scent or not. But it is a bit more disease resistant than DUBLIN.

As far as reds go, my largest one so far is MR LINCOLN. I understand he can get 6-7", but mine averages about 5".

I haven't grown Peter Mayle or Buxom Beauty/Parole, though the latter one is tempting me. But I'm a new convert to the charms of Alec's Red, so I'm with Liane on that one. If you want a compact plant but big fat blooms, AR is a good choice, with nice erect stems for cutting, terrific staying power for cut blooms or on the bush-lasting a week and a half or more, and "awesome"(...what can I say? I came of age in the '80s) fragrance. The color really pops, too; coral red but no hint of orange in my garden at least.

Question to those who recommended Alec's red: do you find this rose productive?

I have an own root Alec's red, 3 maybe 4 years old. I agree that it has great fragrance and the blooms last well. But I do not find my plant to be particularly generous with blooms. I do not see any sign of RMV, the plant is not very bad in terms of blackspot, so I am clueless as to why I see few blooms and even those far between.

My Pink Peace got really big blooms on it. Memorial Day's are large too but that's a lighter pink.

Ceterum, I have not had my Alec's Red very long, only since this past summer, and it was a first year rooted cutting. So I can't yet fully answer your question. But so far it has produced about on par with other young own-root plants. The growth is slow but steady and perfectly healthy. The plant is still small; under two feet.

I vote for Rouge Royale -- super fragrant, 5-6" blooms and lots of them.

I must second Buxom Beauty/Parole and Dublin as they are both quite large. I will also add to this list First Prize, Veterans' Honor, and Rose Rhapsody.
Large mini/mini-flora I would recommend Leading Lady, Dr. John Dickman, and Norma Jean as the big guns in my garden.

Here's one Peter Mayle, compliments of my granddaughter! They do get big, but it does take time for them to rebloom. Worth the wait!

I truly love Rouge Royale and the fragrance is to die for but my two RR plants do not produce such big blooms as Crimson Glory or Papa Meilland or Parole as a rule or Pink Peace (not always but often) in the dark pink category. The HP Paul Neyron does give huge blooms most of the time.

Furthermore, in my climate Rouge Royale is not disease resistant even less disease free. Maybe in the middle of the country the foliage is better but here in coastal z8 this rose must be sprayed fairly regularly. However, if it is sprayed, it can be kept fairly clean.

For a pink bloom and a rose with better than average disease resistance, you will be hard pressed to find a bigger bloom than Paul Neyron. They can easily be 7"+ across on a healthy bush. The blooms also last a long time and have a very good fragrance. It is one of few Hybrid Perpetuals that is worth its growing space.

I take Ingrid Bergman for the red. Not perhaps the largest red bloom of the lot, but at least every bloom (and there will be a lot of them) is pure dark red and between 4 to 5 inches across. Fragrance is variable and not over-powering, but for red HT's, it is in the top ranks for disease resistance. Certainly better in this regard than Alec's Red, Mr. Lincoln, Oklahoma and some of the other red suggestions, although all of these roses have their merits too. Ingrid is also pretty hardy for an HT too and is an all-round top notch garden rose.
