Rose color change question
Comments (7)Purple roses vary widely in color with changes in the weather and light. Sometimes dark purple roses turn out magenta, sometimes mauve turn deep pink, and sometimes lavender turn out muddy pink. I think that making the soil more acidic should make the roses more purple than pink. Also keeping them out of the hot afternoon sun lets them keep their color longer... Purple roses are very variable......See MoreWorst temperature changes
Comments (10)It hit us on Sunday. Snowed off and on all day and stuck to everything. We're getting another front passing through tomorrow that is supposed to dump more snow than we saw on Sunday. Highs in the low 20s. This is early for us. Our real winter weather usually doesn't hit until Jan/Feb. Our problem is ice. Tomorrow's front is supposed to bring rain followed by snow. Looks like I may be working from home tomorrow. I've got new roses planted this fall that I'm worried about. We aren't in the habit of covering roses here since our winters don't normally get cold enough long enough for it to be a problem....See MoreColor temperature change
Comments (2)Your tomatoes will quickly outgrow your fluorescent lights. They are a high-energy plant, needing lost of light and nutrients. I recommend a 400w CMH full-spectrum light, that doesn't need to be changed from veg to bloom. Generally, blue is preferred for growth (because it stimulates growth hormones, encourages rooting, and discourages excessive stem elongation). You also want red spectrum during the growth, this will increase the growth rate. During bloom, red stimulates bloom hormones. But you still want blue, at least for most of the bloom phase. Right at the end, a full-spectrum light increases potency....See Morecan roses cross-pollinate and change colors?
