Floribunda 'Hawaiian Delight"?

Has anyone had experience with the Floribunda 'Hawaiian Delight' (De Ruiter, 1968)? Its color as described on registration--burnt orange and pink--sounds intriguing, and its parentage is elite ('Orange Sensation' and 'Circus') . . . and yet, one sees few comments on it beyond what one reads in the Vintage Gardens catalog, or the laconic text at HMF. I'd be interested in comments by those who have grown it on the appearance of its foliage, its habit, its floriferousness, scent, health, eccentricities [etc. etc.]. Thanks!

I'll respond to my own message so that it stops floating at the top of the thread list (a week is enough). Intriguingly, this is evidently quite a rare rose which I look forward to experiencing myself and reporting on!

I've just added four photos of varying quality of this hard-or-impossible-to-find-pictures-for rose to HelpMeFind. (Link below.) It's a nice rose of the 'Masquerade', 'Confetti', or 'Leprechaun' ilk. The shape, as one or more of the pix show, is very good to excellent. The leaves are a good dark green, and, so far, healthy. Evidently, this rare Floribunda is still available at Vintage. Get it while you can!

I'll recommend Moondance for a white floribunda. It doesn't last a long time in the vase, but it has so many flowers that it is easy to go cut a new one every few days. It smells really good too. I didn't think Sunsprite made a good cut flower. It just doesn't have much of a stem. It does have a lovely bright yellow color and a strong lemony fragrance so I still like mine. I'm not certain mine lived through the winter but that might be where I have it planted. I won't know for sure until I prune though and that won't be for a few more weeks.

twrosz, I am brand new to roses, but the general consensus is that the 'mystery rose' in my backyard is a 'Rose de Rescht.' This is our second summer in this house, and it sat empty for three years before us. This rose grew under a pine tree for at least those three years without any help at all. This past winter we had record snowfall and brutal cold. All I had to do was tip prune this Spring. This rose IS tough as nails here in 4b/5a, and has wonderful, wonderful bloms and scent. It had only a flimsy rebloom, but it is also very shaded. This fall she gets moved to the sun, and we'll see how that goes!

Thanks, Burgundy Iceberg is only in early am shade then full sun the rest of the day. It's settling in pretty well and growing new buds. I think the small break from hot weather helped that one a bit and now we're headed back in heat again. Green Ice is doing very well in that pot, I turn it all the time to encourage the other sides to grow. It just seems to like to spill that one way:) This restarted from a 4" plant a few weeks earlier when I transplanted it into the pot. It was half dead in the mostly shade spot this spring, it didn't get enough sun like it did last fall. It really likes where I've got it now.

I'm so glad you posted this! I ordered this rose from Vintage for June delivery sight unseen. Now that I've seen it, I really think its very unique.

Tammy, you're like me--curious to buy something which is mysterious and/or little grown. My (short) experience with 'Hawaiian Delight' so far makes me think it's a winner. It seems as if it's a sturdier grower than the aforementioned 'Masquerade' or 'Leprechaun' (I don't have experience with 'Confetti'), the pink tones (which I'm sure will grow stronger as the blossoms mature) in the yellow/orange/red array make it really "different"; and it's cheerful, making one smile just to look at it. It's a special rose!--and need I add "for special people"?

I can add that 'Hawaiian Delight' has a delicious sweet-fruity fragrance. It develops as the blossom develops.

You're right, I am curious! If I like what a rose is bred from, or who it was bred by, I'll take a chance. I don't think I've had a DeRuiter rose not do well for me...so I said "why not!"

Glad to hear its better than Leprechaun....that one got the shovel last year!
