The two fruitless olives to consider are "Swan Hill" or "Wilson's" (Olea europaea wilsonii). They will be labeled and although you may see flowers, they don't produce viable pollen so no fruit. You might also consider Mastic, a small/medium sized evergreen tree. Several of the trees you mentioned above are deciduous (loses leaves in winter), which may or may not be a consideration for you. Eucalyptus microtheca - grows to 30 or 40 feet tall and wide. Mexican redbud - this tree is deciduous and may be difficult to find Monk's Pepper (Vitex agnus-castus) - spikes of purple, pink or white flowers are followed by small BB sized seeds. I made an error in my original message. My apologies. Someone else in my household is in charge of the watering, hence my error. The roses are on their own irrigation system and are only watered once a week unless you count the unintentional watering that the neighbor gives them. Thank you JAYK for your advice. You said just what I was afraid of--that it wasn't necessary for me to pull the leaves off the plant. I just spent over an hour reading some of the rose forum thread on chemicals to use on black spot and am still (more?) confused. Do you or anyone else have any advice for the rose bush that I pruned almost all the leaves off of (only about 6 leaves left on it now)? Do I use the neem oil my local nursery suggested (and have already purchased)or do I heed some research I did that shows neem oil can interfere with photosynthesis and wait for more leaves to grow before using neem? Or use something else entirely? A relative says he remembers using something many years ago that went in with the fertilizer in granular form and so didn't need to be sprayed and thus limited the safety precautions which I would certainly appreciate if it works. I didn't see anything about this product in the thread on black spot that I read; maybe it was there and I missed it but most of the discussion seemed to focus on commercial sprays. I'll do so more reading tomorrow and see if I can find a reference to it. I'd very much like to save the bush; it was well-established, planted about 15 years ago. This phrase jumped out at me... "My husband loves me very much I know and would do anything to get me back" First off, what in the world makes you think your husband loves you very much? If he has abused you to the point of literally "driving you crazy" he probably does not love you at all. Of course he would 'do anything to get you back'...he is a control freak and wants to control you, that does NOT mean he loves you. Do you have any idea what your husband's personality disorder is? Borderline, Narcissistic, something else? If he is willing to and can get help for that...either through counseling or medication, you may have a shot, but this is really a problem that he needs to get fixed for himself. I know I've mentioned this on other posts, but be very cautious of marriage counseling. Your main problem isn't your marriage...it is his personality disorder and it should be addressed separately, probably with a psychiatrist. I've heard of many instances where abusers actually abuse, lie and degrade in marriage counseling sessions (many counselors are clueless) and also where these clueless counselors suggest even more control is given to the controller...which can back fire big time. Obviously, you may want to seek help or talk to someone too, but please don't be sucked into a bad counseling situation with your husband. His problem needs to be addressed and 'fixed' first and then you can work on your marriage. Obviously, I don't know how bad it is, but if "he" truly drove you to the point of a mental breakdown, I would think it's probably good riddance. Love may conquer all, but sadly I'm not seeing that he loves you.

Assumed Context: If I understand the photo correctly. It looks like the house at back is your neighbor. And you have neighbors all around. As far as grading, it appears as if your backyard starts with a toe slope them moves up towards your rear neighbor. If that is correct... PRIVATE PATIO: I’d say get rid of that middle tree or a few in the middle so you can create a “tree grove privacy patio”. I imagine building a curvy seat boulder wall into the slope with a backrest as a dual purpose retaining wall. You can add ground planter like shrubs and ground cover if conditions permit. FIREPIT: Then closer to the house and away from the trees. I’d have the fire pit somewhere. You may probably upgrade to a fireplace. And have it include a second nearby space where you have a dining outdoor area. MERGE: Combine FIREPIT/DINING and PRIVATE PATIO together buy creating rectangular offset path.
