Took just a couple of pictures this morning - now I have to get working moving and splitting perennials - Carrie

Oh Carrie,
What a beautiful garden,every thing is layed out so nice.
And no weeds,mine never looks that way.
Will the open areas be filled in with other plants, or will the ones you have shown, just keep getting bigger?
So nice to see right now, all i have is brown out my way,all leaves,a few spring plants coming up, but nothing like what you have.

Hurrah for spring! Your plants look like they are growing nicely. Do you have any new ws babies in those beds? Can you tell us what is blooming? I see some dianthus and is that alyssum? How about the pink in the last photo?

What a clever subject line! On first glance I thought, "Somebody besides me makes typos!", but then, immediately knew it was about cats. Since DH and I are now the temporary caretakers of our son's cat, Maggie, your quotes have added meaning for me. I was wrong. I've never been so happy to be wrong in my life. I had 5,100 seconds of class. It was today. My last class ever. The biggest weight ever lifted. Hardest work of my life and only rivaled by the birth of my son. It's over. Well, I do a have a final, but I'm ready. And life at work goes back to normal as of tomorrow morning. Real live lunches for longer than 15-30 minutes, no leaving early and making my boss unhappy. Normal. No more obscure hours and juggling. Over. I have been crying for hours now. My eyes hurt, but it's the second best hurt I've ever had (of course LF is number one!).

I still don't have much, but it's pretty exciting with everything getting big and that pretty baby green that new plants are. My forget me nots are budding up. As is my columbine. The pretty, if plain, columbine was planted on this property by my grandmother in the 50s and it is Everywhere. Very little of it is in an actual garden bed. My daffodils are still blooming. My tulips are coming along. I've planted beets, carrots, cabbage for the chickens, and onions. I'm spreading compost like crazy. My chickens have destroyed my perennial gardens.

Nice, Carrie! The gardens look wonderful, and the weather looks fine too!

What are the lime-green plants in the first two pics? And is that blue fescue I see?

This is the side garden with all the wire domes all over the place (while I am working).. It's a messy picture but that's where I did most of my splitting today and if you think THAT'S a mess.... (you should see me...)

The first pictures I posted this morning of the front borders include: Soon to flower Cal. Poppies, Salvia Rose Queen, Purple Heart, Lots of Spireas, Dianthus Pinks, Mystica Penstemon, Red Huskers Penstemon, Yarrow, Oenothera, Candytuft, BESusans, Foxgloves, Silene, Malvas, White Alyssum,Hellebores - gosh so much more too many to type - of course most stuff not flowered yet. behind little brick walls, Shastas, Sedums,Phlox, etc. ...

The lime colored shrubs are Spirea Goldmound - makes pretty pink flowers soon - blue fescues are in the side garden, so you must see Dianthusssssss' which are in the front. :0)

Nice pictures Carrie.
The only purple in my yard is henbit.
Mowed yesterday, but blustery today so no tilling
my new beds.

You are so lucky to have that much green already!

Carrie..beautiful garden! You have so much property to work with! We're so crammed together up here in our tiny suburban lots! Can I ask ..what are the wire domes for? Protection from voracious bunnies?

Thanks - The wire domes are put around certain sections that have blue fescue grasses and other favorites that the rabbits may attack.

It's a pain, but every morning I remove them and set them into the woods - where you can't see them - and then put them back into place. It just gives me peace of mind at night....and it seems to be working. It really is annoying.

That last picture is only a three year garden. That whole area used to be total, dense woods. It tooks us years to clear the trees and the only money we spent was to hire a stump grinder in that area (and he gave us a terrific price - like 20 a stump!)... well worth it.

The trees had to be taken down because they were too close to the house and since I had already started wintersowing the year before, I knew I would love having all that extra gardening space - but sometimes (most of the time), it is a lot of work and I think I am a bit crazy to have given myself all the "maintenance". The good news is that it hasn't cost us much to enjoy flowers there from the porch.
