Quick question

Last year i planted at least 30 lupins,they all stayed nice and green all year,did not seem to grow much,and they did not bloom,so far, no sign of life coming from them,i was just reading that one of ours here planted them last year and they even bloomed.I think they are so pretty,do you think mine will come up this year?

Hi Carol,

Mine have just started to break ground and for some of them I have to look really close. So maybe your's are just a little slow to get out of the gate? Give them a bit more time. When they start showing they will leaf out really fast since they are an early flowering plant.

Rarely do I get first year flowering. To tell you the truth, I don't remember ever having first year flowers on mine.

The first year I grew them, I planted some at my mother's house and some at my house. My mother's bloomed first year and mine slowly disappeared. I think the rabbits might have eaten them. Last year I plunked the whole jug in a different location in my yard and some of them have returned. I have another jug sprouted this year that I sowed just in case. Good luck with yours. I hope they are just being slow pokes.

Not sure what Wolf you have. I have a DF Wolf range. The best way to figure out how to use your temp probe (which I use every time I roast...I really like the feature!) is to follow the instructions in the owner's manual. The instructions are very specific and easy to follow. You can also download the owner's manual from the Wolf website. The knob that shows you your oven temperature (on the range) is where the temperature of the probe is tracked, as the meat roasts. The hidden control panel is where you do the initial set-up. There's a "probe" button you have to select at the start of the process. I don't think you'll have any trouble figuring out how to use the tem probe after you've read the instructions. When the meat reaches the desired interal temperature you have selected, the oven chimes. Just like when you reach the time limit on anything you bake.

Urgent! Bosch induction range- quick question

I worried so much about this. The installers somehow had no problem leveling, but the range did not fit evenly on the front edge of the countertops, so on one side it was even with the front edge of the countertop and on the other side it sat back from the front edge. Drove my husband nuts that it was uneven. Eventually he pulled the range out and found that the electrical plug was not in the right position, so he had to do some adjustments and now the range fits perfectly. There is a thin piece of metal under the glass top overhang to buffer the glass top from the countertop--you can hardly see it. The top surface of my countertop is 36 1/4" from the floor and my countertop is 25 3/4" deep without backsplash tile. I have 5/8" clearance at the back of the range to accomodate future backsplash tile. I positioned the front of the range slightly back from the front edge of the countertop as you can see in the photo, because I liked it best in that position. .

Not Lars but we installed Guardian Showerguard glass in our master bath when we remodeled 4 years ago. We had hard water at our previous home and I didn't realize how it could etch glass and once etched it couldn't be easily restored. When we moved into our current home we gutted all 3 bathrooms but only put the Showerguard in the master bath which gets the most use. The water at this place is only slightly hard but still within a reasonable range and so far we haven't bothered putting in a whole house filter. We haven't had any issues with etching in any of the bathrooms and our beverage glasses are fine. Possibly we didn't need the Showerguard but hopefully this is our last house and when we remodeled we decided to install top of the line materials. The only problem we had with the glass was rectified by our contractor. One pane of glass had 2 huge handprints on it - but they were only apparent after the shower had steamed up. I took photos and alerted him. He contacted the installer and the glass manufacturer and they replaced the pane. Maire

you are saying is that if I lighten Paris Rain by a certain % to bring LRV up 10 points, I will be left with basically Sweet Spring? Nope. 🙂 Question is why not just use Sweet Spring? There is no way to correlate an ambiguous % to a paint color's attributes - like LRV. Because the question is a % of what exactly? From there it's - possibly - a matter of math provided quantities of colorant are large enough to be cut. I know it sounds logical and every blogger on the internet infers that this is how paint color works. In actual application, across thousands of paint colors, multiple brands I can tell you that is not how it works. When you alter a formula, you change all 3 dimensions: hue, value and chroma. Not just the part you don't like or want to change. In this case, lightness. Essentially it's a new color. Can't know what part of the color will change - or by how much - unless you have it mixed, let it dry and look at it, measure it. At that point you own the can of paint whether you like it or not.

I didn't know about WS'ing last year, so I started lupines in the basement in March. I planted them out in late may. They bloomed toward the end of June. 1 'melted' from heat and the rest did well. I found out they need shade the first year, so to save the others I'd planted in full sun, I put up little sunbrellas over them... Right now my remaining 7 plants are leafing out and getting big, one almost as large as a basketball.

That is just breathtaking,is that a spot close to you?Do you have large areas like that every where that are so pretty?I bet you collect the seeds? :0)

I'm just waiting for it to warm up just a tad, so i can go outside and play,so much to do.

I saw mine starting to get leaves last week.
Last year they were so tiny when I planted them I put them in front of the hostas figuring they wouldn't bloom, but they got huge and bloomed at 180 days from planting.

Finally the sun has come out today, so ready to run around the yard soon and see what other Ws'd perennials from last year are coming back

Carol,

Many parts of the province are covered like that throughout the month of June. The apple trees bloom at the same time and going through the Annapolis Valley where apple orchards are everywhere, well, it is quite the sight and along with the perfume of the Lupines it is something you always remember.
