Rose orders: which rose are you most looking forward to receiving
Comments (27)Funny you should say that you expect most people to say, "all of them"; that's exactly what I was thinking. Ok. If I have to narrow it down a bit, I think the roses I'm most excited about getting are Eugenie Guinoisseau (I've been wanting a moss and this is the one I'm trying), Lullaby (sounds beautiful), Madame Cornelissen (been looking forward to this one for a while), and Duchesse de Grammont(been wanting this one for who knows how long). How's that for a narrowed list? I didn't even include Adam, Madame Wagram or Anne Marie de Montravel all of which I'm very excited about. There are more but I'm really trying to keep with the spirit of the original post....See MorePretty Roses, Handsome Roses, But Which Roses Are Sexy To You?
Comments (63)I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try countryrosegirl. I know our yard wouldn't look like it does if the 2 of us didn't work as a team to make it so. Be aware that Deb says I am sexy and I know she is just saying that to be kind to an old man :) Pauline, I couldn't believe how Deb had been treated when we met. One of my proudest moments was when her 5 year old son asked her why she didn't cry all the time anymore :) I should note that I have received much more than I have given in our relationship. I consider myself (know I am) the lucky one. Leslie, I was just teasing Harry. I knew what he meant :) Funny thing is.... I knew when I met Deb that she would find someone better for her and get tired of putting up with my ornery, uuhhh, self. I knew I was shooting myself in the foot giving her ego a boost. Advertising how wonderful she was would make that happen faster but she deserved so much more than the treatment she was getting. Had to do the right thing by her even though it would cost me. Could not imagine her putting up with me a year. 23 years should qualify her for sainthood LOL. Florence, the more self confident she becomes.... the more attractive she is :) Princess Debbie, I like the sound of that. Thank you Seil, Deb says Hot Romance looks great.... I think you got me in trouble :) She says Sweet Arlene is a sexy rose. I was told that I agree with her when I rolled my eyes. Comments (11)I've grown two of the Vigorosa series from Kordes, Innocencia and Emely. Both were short, very disease resistant and bloomed a great deal. This was in the southeastern US - it's rated to 6b by default on hmf, but may well withstand colder temps, being Kordes. Emely is one, I think that Pickering is phasing out, but I think it's still available from there. I grow Kordes' Cream Veranda and have found it to be very bs and mildew resistant here; very pretty bloom. hmf rates it to 6b but I notice that Celeste in New Hampshire grows it. New to me this summer, but I really like Tantau's Sweet Haze, which has a very pretty single pinkish bloom; Heirloom rates it to zone 5. I think hmf zone rating is in error, 8 to 9. What colors are you wanting?...See MoreHow many roses are you ordering for spring? (which ones)
Comments (225)@vaporvac - not sure if they are completely dead yet. But they look mighty sad. I did plant them deep, so there is the hope of growth from below. It's not just the kordes though, it's everything else too - carruths, meillands, etc. I just had heard so many things about Kordes hardiness that I was shocked to see them dead to the ground. Poisedon, Cherry Lady (aka. fiji) & Summer Sun look terrible. However, Rosanna has buds starting on her lower canes already. But I will get out this week and start pruning away & see what happens. The austins have at least a few inches to a foot above the ground & the canadian roses have plenty of green. I do want to make a proper list of the roses that have some good starting cane left though for records. I was surprised to see a lot of green on Bolero & Wild Blue Yonder....See MorenanadollZ7 SWIdaho
