What do you think about this homes exterior. Color scheme/Material ??
Comments (9)After a certain length of time, the post can't be deleted. The rendering above looks like it has two extra filled-in half-wood garage doors out front. It also has a half completed chimney in the front. Are those the impressions you want to convey? Does the roof have the appropriate slope for your snow load? The huge windows in the front will show a view, if that's the right direction. I hope you have geothermal heating or some other way to reduce the expense of heating the house with huge heat-losing windows....See MoreWhat color scheme on the exterior of the house??!
Comments (17)i like that color much better, If you paint the shingles (which is perfectly understandable) I would actually go lighter. As a rule with more traditionally styled architecture, you want to embrace the sense of "gravity"; visually, darker colors have more weight and should go towards the bottom, and as things progress they should get lighter. So the siding would be roughly the same tone as the stone, and then a bit lighter for shingles in my opinion. I'm not sure where you live but certain climates are good for letting shingles weather if you're still considering it. Out west where the climate is drier shingles will get a nice, silvery grey effect. On the east coast its a bit different and things can become "splotchy"...See MoreWhat color scheme to paint front exterior?
Comments (11)I love your house as it's one of my favorite styles. I would encourage you not to add faux anything, but embrace its natural, organic look which appears to be perfect for your location. You could paint the garage door if you really want a pop of color, and barring HOA restrictions, you have myriad options there. But since you don't seem to want to change the brown, add some large, colorful planters to your landscape for interest. Just remember that the beautiful thing about this style of home lies in its natural simplicity....See MoreExterior paint scheme - what color to paint 7(!) doors
Comments (3)Thanks for the Cottage Red suggestion Houssaon. I might want to go a bit more bright/true red, but that is a really good muted option. As far as Edgecomb Gray trim, the windows, soffit, eaves and railings are stark white, so I was leaning towards a fairly white trim to blend better....See MoreCaplan Custom Homes
