I have Chrysler Imperial from RU. It is in it's 2nd summer and done beautifully. It broke to the ground last year in a freaky windstorm, but came right back this year. It is completely disease free - it's in my front yard and I don't spray the roses in the front. I've seen no sign of RMV. I will say it is not as large as some of my other ht's - maybe because most of my ht's are grafted.
The blooms are beautiful and very fragrant.

Just a heads up; 3 years ago I bought a virus indexed own root CI from Appalachian Roses. The quality of the roses shipped were first rate, comparable to RU. There had been a number of good reviews of this company by friends and fellow formumers so you may want to give them a call to see if it is available. It never hurts to have an alternate source.

I should have added the owner of Appalachian nursery was fiercely anti-RMV when few nurseries took this issue seriously: he purchased virus indexed stock from UC Davis many, many years ago, or, if he acquired roses from other sources, he send them for testing to private labs.

I respect this man tremendously. I should order from him again and more.

Ceterum, I've spoken to him on the phone; actually was going to order Chrysler Imperial from him 2 years ago but talked myself out of it. He seems very honest, even emphasizing that this all his efforts, he's had one or two roses that had tested as RMV-free that later showed signs of the virus, so he replaced the stock again.

Irish Rose Grower, you comment is encouraging. I already know I've been very pleased with RU's roses in the past. I was just wondering about this one. I vaguely recall someone on this forum a few years back complaining that his CI from RU was not clean. RU has 2 other roses I'm after, so maybe I'll order another rose from them AND CI from Appalachan Rose; not that I have extra space. :/

I have two - second season, but thus far no signs of RMV. They certainly have grown like weeds :-)

I have one from RU..about 4-5 years now with no sign of virus. This one was a bit slow to establish but has been overall a good producer and has reached over 4'.

Appalachian Roses is an excellent recomendation as an alternative.

Got CI from Roses Unlimited 2 years ago - absolutely no problems with it except a touch of BS when I got lax about my spray schedule. Love this vendor.
