rambler rose, pink, to grow up plum tree
Comments (7)I've started to try to grow a rose up a plum tree this year, too (in a box, in a mix). Not pink, sort of orange (pinkish orange?). A wichurana rambler; Paul Transon, from early 1900s. Large flower, supposed to have a moderate fragrance. I thought the green leaves & orange flower would be a nice offset to the purple leaves of the plum tree. I don't know that you would have a major problem ordering from U.S. sources, though those in Canada are arguably better (e.g.-Palatine). The supplier I've used the most (Sherando Roses in Va.) ceases operations as of June. Roses Unlimited in S.C. has also been good. On the west coast, perhaps Rogue Valley? Although I don't particularly care for bands (which, it appears, is what they do most), I do like the selection & they are THE source for Paul Barden roses....See MoreGrowing climers/ramblers on the Sunshine Coast
Comments (1)I would write to Reliable Roses in Victoria info@reliableroses.com.au Those two roses are not on their list and I cannot find them on any Australian Websites Reliable Roses have quite a few Species Roses on their website so may be able to recommend two similar ones. All the best with your search.. Mary-Anne Here is a link that might be useful: Reliable Roses Catalogue...See MoreDoes anyone growing Quercus Michauxxi think they grow slow?
Comments (16)It is along the property line, and the main leader got damaged, I cut it down, and these 4 are here now. You can see why I asked about slow growth, the original trunk was not too much taller than the 4 that sprung up, it was about 4 ft at it's tallest. I'll try what you said Bama, and see what happens....See MoreAnyone Growing The Albrighton Rambler?
Comments (11)I was hoping AR would spill down the slope. But now that I've discovered the power and beauty of stone retaining walls on my slope to create more gardening space, I may reclaim part of that slope to extend my veggie garden...in which case I'd either move AR or try to trellis...in the meantime, the part of the slope near AR where I won't be gardening I planted a Mel's Heritage...but that little band continues to do NOTHING, so despite the rave reviews, I fear I got a dud. I also just planted a MAC where I want her to grow into a big screen to give us privacy -- but put up two big poles and strung wire so I can train some canes to go lateral (more screening, less chaos, hopefully). We shall see. I do love the flowers on AR. I'm hoping that THIS will be the year! Stay tuned. Oh -- I also planted a Teasing Georgia on another slope, and Colette, and waiting on Heritage from DA. So I went a little crazy with climbers...Oh -- and planted a Polka! I may be overrun by climbing roses soon. What a lovely way to go!...See Morelandperson
