'Pope John Paul II' seems to be high on everyone's list. Most vendors sell this as an own-root rose. Mine came from J&P the first year it was available. In addition to great form, this one has terrific fragrance.

My favorite white HT is 'Tineke', which I purchased from Edmunds'.

Where set in the more traditional John F Kennedy rose ( after all we are in Mass)I will agree that JP II is a bit more brighter in white both are a Jackson and Perkins rose

I too like the JFK rose but JP doesn't have that rose in stock. The PJPII is nice but doesn't have the bud shape that JFK has.

JFK has been a pooch for me, and I never recommend it.

Pope John Paul II is a very good white HT, and fragrant.

Tineke didn't do much for me, but I gave it away, and it did better in another yard. It could get a green cast to it in the spring and fall in my yard.

Crystalline is a very good white, excellent HT form in the blooms (Palatine Roses has it), long stems. Canadian White Star, if you like quilled (pointed) petals. Polar Stern and Caroline de Monaco.

My favorite "white" isn't pure white, it is Ginger Hill, it has a pink, ruffled, edge.

And Pristine and I have a hate/love relationship. I hate it most of the year, and I love it today, it has the most gorgeous bloom.

Elina is not pure white, but is an overall creamy white blend (with just a hint of pale yellow in the center) that is absolutely entrancing. It is also superb for very large blooms, good rebloom, fragrance, and disease-resistance. I adore my three Elinas.

I live in a fairly cold and wet climate, and in my garden Karen Blixen (aka Silver Anniversary) is one of the best hybrid teas I've grown. It grows into a nice healthy plant with lots of green leefs, fragrant and give lots of flowers.

It's not a hybrid tea, but White Gruss an Aachen is one on my best roses, fragrant, healthy and and well worth checking out. If either of the Gruss an Aachens does well in your are this one will too. Only a few nurseries sell it here.

Crystalline!!!

I am ALL about the Pope! Amazingly vigorous, nearly clean as a whistle no-spray, and shockingly beautiful form and fragrance. Enought to bring you to your knees. I lost mine(sort of) last winter during a BRUTALLY cold winter. I fully intend to plant another when I have a good spot for it where I can smell it all the time.

Is there a source for GRAFTED PJPII?

I also LOVE Pope John Paul II. Its gorgeous, no doubt about it, but is the FRAGRANCE that keeps it at the top of my list of favorite hybrid teas. Its tender here in zone 4 like all hybrid teas and dies back to the usual few inches I experience with all of them. But if mine ever perishes over the winter I would just have to get another.

I love PJPII and have two of them. For overall rose quality I don't think there is a better pure white HT out there.
I also grow Crystalline and think it is a close second to PJPII and as a bonus it is a very well known good rose for hybridyzing with.
I also grow Pop Warner, Mavrik, Cajun Moon, and Moonstone. They are not pure white since they have pink edges to the flower petals, but they are all gorgeous in their own right and I will always have them in my garden for sure.
For floribundas I grow Moondance which is pure white and is a wonderful rose as well. It is healthy, vigorous growing, disease free, and blooms like crazy. The blooms are very fragrant, have beautiful form, and last a long time.
I also grow Pasadena Star which is a creamy white floribunda with an occasional slight pink edging to the petals. The blooms on this one can sometimes be larger than many of my HT's when the conditions are right. My bush is 5 years old though and the last couple of years it hasn't done as well as it used to.
John
