I still have plenty more annuals to plant too, including the Baby's Breath. I have LOTS of Zinnias that I'll be planting that I'm looking forward to as well.

Except for the coneflowers and Shasta daisies, everything I winter sowed this year is new to me and I can't wait to see how everything does. I had sort of a plan - I walked about the garden and made notes of what I needed - tall and purple, short and white, and so on and ordered things that seemed to fit the bill. Plus they had to be tough for my desert climate.

Agastache and Petunia's.

I'm most excited about the petunias and black eyed susan vine for my baskets. For the gardens it's definitely the delphiniums. :)

Everything - lots of lawn to turn into something other than an ugly groundcrover! (aka grass)

My Shasta daisy Snow Princess, I already have sprouts, it's a nice short daisy that is supposed to bloom the first year.

lavender..I plant this every year and it never survives.This year I planted every type of lavender I could find.I have sprouts so am crossing my fingures that this will be the year.

I am really psyched for to see the Cosmos Sensation Blend bloom!

I have over 75 w.s. containers now which means 75 new things I have traded for on the seed exchange that I am excited about but here are a few. Dead mans fingers, 7 new heucheras, blackberry lilies, witch hazel, and isodon excisis. My sons old college dorm fridg is packed with trees and shrubs stratifying. Can you say obsessed?

Doing a raised cutting flower bed so I've got stock and feverfew and bishop's lace, all new to me. All have sprouted.

Also have annual phlox in dutch tapestry. That has not sprouted and I'm worried because I've never had any luck with phlox. Also, the four o'clocks haven't sprouted either, and didn't sprout last year. Anyone have any suggestions on either the phlox or four o'clocks?

I planted delphiniums, but wasn't even excited about them because I've heard they're so hard to grow. But now I have sprouts! Now I really am excited. And I have the perfect place for them in front of my house out by the road in my "purple" bed. I hope I don't kill them.

I'm doing my little happy dance as my leonotis seed from a good friends plant is sprouting!

Amy - I'm trying Cosmos Psyche white (I ALWAYS grow Sonata white cosmos - knee high and so well behaved with big blooms).

Moonphase - I'm trying cuttings of lavender in jugs - will let you know who it turns out (they've been there well over a month and haven't died, so it may work out).

I'm also chomping at the bit for my dwarf columbine sprouts to get large enough to handle and the Rudbeckia capucinno to take off (some sprouts, but I want more).

@ docmom: I planted delphinium last year during the spring and they never made it past their second set of leaves. I randomly tossed a seed or two into an urn with petunias in it during the summer, and sure enough it sprouted and eventually bloomed in October. It's doing great now. I recently transplanted it because a mum had taken over. A week later and no issues with it at all. I'm beginning to wonder if their poor record is a bit over exaggerated. We'll see. creeping mother of thyme for around a stone walk way...super excited about them. have tried ordering but they come dormant and never make it, so when i went out and looked down in the jug and there were sprouts everywhere i was one happy gal!!!

I am excited about Rosemary.
People always say it is hard to grow from seed, so I have long wanted to try it WS'ing method.
I'll let you know how it does.

I am trying to winter sow lavender this year, although the bought plants overwinter beautifully in my garden, I would love to grow it from seed!

And also more each year I am falling in love with vegetable winter sowing - I have succeeded with onions, carrots, radishes, tomatoes, beans, basil and all kinds of lettuce. This year I have added beets, some extraordinarily beautiful lettuces and a lot of herbs.
I am so exited! :)

I know this will sound silly but bell peppers! I've never had much luck growing bell peppers from seed. Hot peppers, yes. Bell peppers, no. But since I decided to try out wintersowing for the first time this year (I really only grow veggies; one day I'll get into growing flowers!), I figured I might as well try the bell peppers too.

I went out this morning and lo and behold, that jug has sprouted! That alone would have made me a believer about WSing. I'm so happy!

Double primrose (look like little rosebuds), and gold lace primrose. Haven't seen any sprouts yet, but my records show other primroses did not sprout until mid April.

Speaking of primroses, this beautiful blue primrose bloomed for the first time this spring and was wintersown from seeds that a very generous seed trader sent to me last winter.

Yay, a few of my phlox have sprouted. Still waiting on the four o'clocks.

I am a first timer at wintersowing, so I am excited about everything I've sown. It is seriously like Christmas morning for me everytime I peek into a jug and see some green! If I had to pick, I would say I'm most excited for my echinacea paradoxa and verbena bonariensis. I know the verbena is pretty common to most but I've never seen it around here and I am enchanted by it!
