Own root shrub Vs. climber... SDLM ... Need help please
Comments (14)Hi Jerijen, The rose was either mislabeled and actually is SDLM or they sent the wrong plant; a SDLM Climber. I realized the error yesterday and sent an e-mail as they were closed yesterday. I am hoping that the plants were just mis-labeled, but if it is an error, I feel pretty confident that a correction will be made, as the supplier is a reputable company. If a mistake was made, it could have been avoided by reading what was on the invoice versus their tag; it clearly does not match. If this was an error; someone dropped the ball so to speak and we are all human, but it is an inconvenience for me the customer and my hubby potted up the incorrect roses for me. The SDLM is for my garden in Las Vegas, but I have no real use for a climber ( could possibly find a home for two of them) and contemplated sending the incorrect plants to my sister- in -law in Ventura if the supplier does not want them returned; I am not sure what their exact protocol would be, but this same supplier sent a rather unhealthy plant that died and they are sending a replacement in October; kind of apples and oranges in that one plant is dead and the other three are healthy just incorrect so I have no point of reference. After your advice, should I remain left with the incorrect roses, I will not send a SDLM CL to my sister in law as it would not be carefree in her garden. If the roses are not replaced then I will definitely seek recourse and never order plants from the supplier again; but I have no reason to believe that this will be the scenario with them regarding this situation. Comments (5)Nancy, I'm in a different zone, but thought I'd mention a few roses.... Mme Pierre Oger and Reine Victoria are lovely tall growing Bourbon Roses . For Hybrid Perpetuals, Mrs. John Laing and La Reine. Blush Noisette is a wonderful rose. I've been very pleased with it in my garden setting. For Austins, Mortime Sackler is a lovely rose, resembles a Noisette. Eglantyne, Sharifa Asma, and Evelyn, all beautiful Austins. Miss Alice is a lovely compact Austin, very good repeat bloom, might work in a pot....See MoreAn awsome Dischidia...
Comments (24)Hi Denise(5) Thanking You for getting back to me,I've just started collecting Dischidias I have 2 (D Geri, D Acuminata) that are already a few years old, a few very wee little ones (D Nummularia, D Ruscifolia) and 1 D Ovata that ever since I bought it has not been happy, did buy two but took one back to the garden centre because it just wouldn't stop dropping it's leaves was very very wet when I bought it home so the next morning I repotted them both into my Hoya mix the one that was dropping it's leaves just kept dropping them and the stems became very thin and dry looking so I ended up taking it back, the remaining D Ovata has not died but not good either not sure what to do? (paid a LOT of money )so apart from that I'd really like to be able to save it any advice will be much appreciated. Thank You for your advice on your mix, what one would you use for the D Ovata?.Yes when spring comes(our winter at the moment) I've got a few cuttings of some Dischidias and some small leafed Hoyas that I'm going to have a go at mounting but will still pot them up as well,It is Saturday here so have a great weekend. Thanking you in advance. Kind Regards Georgie...See MoreLet me enable you with some Vintage roses... (lots of thumbs)
Comments (13)Oh Kate, you have to find something to order!! They have so many great roses. Haha, Les, sometimes I forget how many I have!! Oh Carla, those are beautiful blooms!! My MRS SAM still hasn't given me any decent blooms in over 2yrs. (must mulch...) Daun, I just want everyone to see how many gorgeous roses are available from Vintage, and to hopefully help to keep them going. There's still so many I want.... Irisgal, Vintage lists KISME as hybridized by Raffel, 196?. It's a lovely floribunda. Stays fairly small and repeats pretty well, despite the lack of care it gets!! SuzyQ, when you leave your email, that's just so they can notify you when the rose comes up available. If you were to request a custom-rooting, you'd be charged something like $40 (I think) for the custom-root service. The craft shop is coming along slowly. We've been open for almost 2 weeks and have had quite a lot of people coming in, but not spending much money yet. Of course, we don't have all our merchandise in yet, and haven't officially advertised yet. All word-of-mouth from my co-workers at Ace. Have to keep that job til we get making a profit. Could be awhile Thanks for asking!!...See MoreUser
