Do any of you grow this rose in a container? I'm looking for a smaller pink for a pot. Is this one really disease resistant? I don't want to spray. Been there, done that! ;-)
I have Bermudas Catherine Mermet, (which I understand is different from "regular" Catherine Mermet) and I absolutely love her! Her blooms right now are to die for, and would rival any hybrid tea in form. They are a creamy color with pink. She is also one of the most disease resistant roses I have. I don't spray. You might want to check her out.
I don't think she stays small though, although mine is on fortuniana.
The 'Catherine Mermet' that used to be sold by Roses of Yesterday and Today, and which we heat-treated to rid it of mosaic, is substantially smaller-growing than an "average" Tea, and it is also quite black-spot-prone.
Bermuda's CM is a very different rose -- much larger growing, and much more disease-resistant.
I order my teas and chinas on their own roots so they stay smaller. I also prune them more severely than most recommend but the roses don't seem to mind this treatment surprisingly. They may not bloom as much as those in grafted on fortuniana and not pruned like a HT but this keeps them at a reasonable size and they bloom enough for me to enjoy them. :-)
I was fortunate enough to purchase my Bermudas Catherine Mermet at The Central Florida Heritage Rose Society rose sale last fall. It is from Malcolm's collection. I almost passed her up, and am so glad I didn't. She is one of my favorites.
I am in the process of teaching myself how to root roses. In the spring I will see if I can take a few cuttings from this bush without it being noticeable (she's still young). If I get any going, I'd share one. Maybe we can trade for something you have that I don't.
