Lizalily - You have me confused with another PNW. Have been here in Oregon for years and at the same address for over eight years. Those were gorgeous photos in the other thread about Eden. I don't have the room for the larger Austins so I have the smaller ones: Tamora, Sharifa Asma, Sophy's Rose, Mary Rose. Would love to have more and the room for it. One can only dream. Thank you for your input!

My best bloomer at the moment is the Portland Indigo-lots of bloom. the Polyanthas in general are still pumping them out though they tend to blackspot here, Clotilde Soupert would be covered in flowers but they are balling-in a dryer climate like yours maybe it would do well. All my Noisettes have flowers though not masses of them. Rose de Rescht is blooming and Blanc de Vibert. My Austins have a flower here and there..nothing to get excited about though.

Nothing much doing very well here at the coast in Oregon. My Betty Boop & Playboy have a few blooms. I guess several of the more mature bushes have a bloom here & there, but it looks pretty sad overall. We've had gorgeous days, but cold damp nights, & it's taken it's toll I'm afraid. Lots of blackspot, lots of leaves falling.

My Hot Cocoa has blooms. Also Aloha, minis Teddy Bear and Iced Tea, Mutabilis (I have really liked Mutabilis a lot this year! As soon as we have a good wind storm, I will protect my Chinas with fallen fir boughs) The mini moss Fuzzy Wuzzy Red is covered in flowers! Opens great in the wet weather. I just got the new climber from Ashdown, Perennial Blue. It has lots of blooms on it. I hope I get to see it bloom this year. It is supposed to look almost exactly like Veilchenblau. Except it is a continuous bloomer.

Hey, Peggy - My best fall rose is Betty Boop. What a great year for her. She still looks glorious, rain and all. I just planted a Playboy next to her yesterday. If it does as well as Betty Boop, blooming late like this, I should be happy this next year. Nice to know that there is some consistency for our climate.

Many do not plant in the fall, but I have planted several close out roses this late and haven't lost a one. They do just fine in our moderate climate. Thanks for letting me know what is doing well for you. CJ

I have several blooming. I cannot tell my best.

Will probably know by Rememberence Day which are my best fall bloomers, because, they are the last ones I pick for the house and for a dinner I have that day. Then, unlike most people, I will prune all my roses, yes, the Real prune for next year. I have always been a nonconformist. Fall is the best time to prune, in my opinion for MY garden. It has worked out great up to now. I will NEVER say this is the RIGHT WAY, but it works best for me. From many years of experience.

....OK, so I will say why it is the right way for me. It is because we live on a hugely evergreen treed property. Absolutely no sun for months on end in the winter. Consequently, my roses stay more dormant than most. If I prune in the fall, then I do not have to prune off precious "very late" new growth in the Spring, hence, a much better start to the season. I know, I know, definitely not the norm, but "up-to-now" it has worked for me!

Pauline, we have fall pruned our roses and our public rose garden of over 800 roses for the past 20 years. We like to get rid of anything we do not want to carry over winter. Our garden looks a little like a bunch of deer antlers over winter, but that suits us just fine. When they are winter pruned, they are easy to dormant spray and easy to cover with winter protection. The old saying applies here - different strokes for different folks. We like it that way.

As for our best fall roses, this year with the great weather, it's some of the climbers - 'White Cloud', 'Malaga', and 'Freisinger Morgenrote' (Sunrise) that have been blooming nicely. Wet weather is on the way which will no doubt put an end to our lovely blooms. Happy rose growing all!!

I've had some nice blooms of white lightnin', granada, Mr. Lincoln, Tiffany and especially Electron. My knockouts are still blooming (blushing, pink and rainbow). We haven't had much rain yet, so the bushes are looking good. We are supposed to get a big storm here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon tomorrow, so I'm going out tonight after work and pick anything that's blooming. Last year, I had blooms of Mr. Lincoln for Christmas.

Wow Kayli, that makes me feel better to hear that. A friend of ours follows everything I do, although I keep telling him, this is not recommended, and he is delighted that he gets a head start on the season. His micro-climate is more favourable than ours. He does not even need to winter mulch, and he only lives down the road. :)

Well if you are pruning all those roses in the fall, then I can too, heehee! Actually, I kind of like the way they look when pruned, all clean looking, and before you know it, they start to produce the new red growth.

Do you actually look after a local park? How does that work, that you are pruning "public" roses? Which State are you in?

Oops Kayli, I take that back. You are in Canada, so probably BC, right. I think you may have told me before. I must have forgotten - Is it Abbotsford area?
