give it some water and place it in indirect sun. And of course contact the vendor. I had a band rose arrive late last year that I did not think was going to make it but with a little TLC is is over 4ft tall and still growing.

What Liz said ... and put it into a one-gallon pot with good potting soil, and snip off the black parts.

The rose's trip through the postal system is very stressful. BS and defoliation can be a result of the heat and/or moisture in the sealed box. On the other hand, roses are really tough and yours has a good chance of being fine ... with some care.

I received my first two roses in the mail this past week. The first looked great with dark green foliage. The second, which arrived three days later, not so good. 75% of lower foliage was yellow and has fallen off - I repotted it the day it came in and gave it lots of water. Three days later, some new leaves are shriveled and one bud is turning black at the base. The other rose received the exact same treatment and still looks fantastic. I'm hoping it's the longer trip thru the mail that hurt it and not just a sickly plant to begin with. I've been taking photos just in case.

well here it is 8 days later and still no change except almost all leaves are yellow now. I hope I don't lose this rose......... and Little I gope you have better luck with your rose.........Susan

I think any band sent too small shouldn't be sent unless it has enough strong,large enough viable leaves to survive the UPS journey. Why some vendors don't follow this rule of thumb is beyond me. LittleTXYard, it's a great idea to keep taking photos just in case.

At first when I was reading this post I was thinking what??? bands this late in the season? until I checked the zones and I thought ahhh, now I understand. I think as long as there's enough strong leaves on the band you should be o.k. It's when you get lots of shriveling and sickliness that's when I feel you are entitled for a refund or exchange, even if the rose were to survive a few months later. Weak roses take some time to re-cover and normalize and for cold zoners this is not a good scenario. To me a rose needs to be of decent health and size to be sent out. I have seen some of Vintages' baby bands and they look fantastic. In the future, if I ever go with baby bands I'm getting Vintage bands.

Mine is doing much better now. It still doesn't have a lot of good leaves left on it but it's covered with buds and has started leafing out. What a trooper!

Wow Little that is wonderful mine is sickly and yellowish still no new growth just leaves falling off. I e mailed pictures to vendor no response yet....Glad yours is thriving

Try to think of that sad looking roses as the runt of the litter or the ugly duckling. If me I wouldnt stay to close to the email box or phone though chances are it doesn't sound like they'll be contacting you at all. I have yet to order internet roses thinking there guarantee might not include the extra shiping charges I'll have to pay to get a refund of the original price I paid from them. Best advice I can give is treat like a new found treasure
