I have two pictures of my new LEH's on my Facebook page. They are beautiful, and I know that they will be even better over the years. I planted them as bare roots, from DA this spring. I am no spray, so there is some BS & such but I don't care, they are not any worse than any others, and actually better than the potted DAs (Teasing GA and Gertrude Jekyll) from the nursery I planted 2 years ago. I highly recommend, if you like DA (ie. patient, don't mind some disease, etc) roses which I do!

Thanks so much for sharing you pictures. I also am no spray which is why I'm a little worried about getting Lady Emma Hamilton. I don't mind some black spot, but some have said that it will completely defoliate. You're in my zone, so it's encouraging to hear your positive experience with it. It's such a gorgeous rose. I'm leaning towards getting both LEH or Golden Zest in the Spring. I need to figure out which will be showier, healthier, and more full looking for the front of the house. Any suggestions anyone?

Mine died. I just noticed it today.

The flowers were gorgeous...the few I did see. I'm torn at the moment about whether I'll replace it or not. If I do I think I'll keep it in a pot and see if that helps.

I think I'm going to take a chance on this rose. I just ordered it from David Austin for the spring. It's been getting lots of mixed reviews. From just a little black spot to complete defoliation. I can help to be drawn to its gorgeous flowers though. It will be my "take a chance" purchase for next year. Thanks for sharing your experiences with LEH. I hope I'll be posting some positive things about it next season.

I loved the photo of this rose ever since I saw it in BBC Home and Garden (or something like that) 4 years ago, when it was just called "AUSbrother". Until and unless I can get one on multiflora rootstock, I will not try it again.

Mine did fine in its first year in my garden. It is beside a group of 5 Ambridge Roses which are now completely defoliated. LEH has all its leaves and is still blooming. I had read somewhere that it was stingy with its blooms but this hasn't been the case for me at all. It has also remained compact while many of my other roses got quite leggy this season due to the amount of rain that we received. All in all, I am quite impressed by this rose.

That's encouraging news. I can wait to get mine in the Spring.

Suzanne- I am soooooooo jealous! Your roses are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures. I love the LEH. I can't wait to get mine in the Spring. I never heard of Glamis Castle, but I fell in love with your photo of it. If you ever want to move I'll buy your house for the roses. :)

HaHa KR222. Yep, it's all about the roses. My husband says "If the stock goes up we can have more roses" or "so you mean your job's secure, more roses," "I saved money on wine honey, so more $ for roses!" It is funny. But I don't have room for them actually, unless I pull out the lawn! I may have found one last spot though for one more new DA rose I saw recently which I now covet. You may want to see it before you go for Glamis Castle, since she is also white - check out Claire Austin. Beautiful!

Wow. Claire Austin is beautiful too. I don't have any white roses yet, but Glamis Castle and Claire Austin are knockouts. I always think I have no more room left, but then there goes more of our already small lawn. I just tell my husband it will make mowing the lawn easier :)
