Countryside Roses making me happy today...

A box arrived via USPS with General Gallieni, Sunset, Fields of the Wood, Baby Faurax and Napoleon. The roses were impeccably wrapped and packed, they came out of the box with nary a leaflet mussed. Baby Faurax is one prickly little booger, I'll need to wear gloves to pot him up. After so many nice photos of FotW and General G on the gallery, I'm thrilled to finally have them! FotW will be grown as a lanky bush, we'll see how that experiment turns out. DH says I only grow pink roses, perhaps FotW and General G will be 'red' enough for him.

I adore Lisa the owner of CountrySide Roses...just a pure sweetheart!!! I have many of her roses growing in my yard and I love everyone of them. FotW is a glorious rose, I grow it as a bush too...a VERY big bush...LOL

I try to order from Countryside whenever I can. They are the best. I love General G; I hope yours grows and blooms for you.

I talked to Lisa several weeks ago. She has a new job that doesn't fit the times it takes to grow large numbers of roses for sale, so she is scaling back and for a while is not looking for large numbers of sales. If you are near southern Mississippi, you might want to call and see if she has any plants of the roses you're interested in. But for how, those of us who mail order are going to have to look elsewhere.

Although I have no specific knowledge, we need to remember that Bay St. Louis and Waveland and points east are still largely destroyed by Katrina. Lisa had rebuilt her business and continued her day job. But when phones don't work, when the internet is down, when streets are torn up (causing other problems) there's nothing individuals can do. That she's still there and working and rebuilding means that the rest of the country needs to remember that there are a lot of factors beyond her control. Patience, all.

I just got my regular Clotilde Soupert today from Chamblee's, and I agree, her scent is potentially delicious! I must say, my MAC still takes the cake for scent by my nose. Even though that Marie Pavie I got today also is tantalizing. It has worked well for me to keep my new roses in more shade than sun for the first few days. It's been in the 40's (we set a record low of 38 the other night!) down here so that shouldn't bother them a bit. Good luck!

I didn't know she could look that beautiful. Thanks for sharing that with us. It's a gift to have some roses inside I think. Sometimes I take some fragrance roses to a lady that runs a storage yard where we used to have a boat. She lives there all alone and has no plants there except for a few houseplants in the office and in her trailer. It makes her so happy when I bring roses on my way to somewhere.

I just got several roses from Lisa last month. F of W was one of them. I hope it does well. I really like that she packed them in newspaper instead of styrofoam. Brandy

She is a real treasure, that Lisa is!!!

I have been fortunate enough to order from most of the vendors we talk about on here, and most of the time I am happy with what I receive from all of them. But Lisa's operation is top notch, really stands out, and I have not been disappointed with anything that came from her! A five star nursery!

Darn darn darn!! I just got my order and I didn't see Field of the Woods when I was ordering. I really want that baby!!
