Tiny 'inchworms' eating my rose petals

Hi, I just started growing roses, in fact just have 2 plants. One is "Cherish" which I believe is grandiflora, the other is a tiny one I rescued from the grocery store for 99 cents. Anyway, I noticed holes in my Cherish petals (not so much the leaves) and a tiny caterpillar like an inchworm in the blooms. Nothing as cute as the one someone posted a picture of. I don't know how to post pictures, if someone would tell me I'll try next time. Anyway, I've just been picking them off, don't have huge infestation but it seems to only take 1. Should I spray something on the rose? Or since it's so late in the season, just cut the flowers to bring inside and forget it til next year?

I also need help - don't know how to winterize these small bushes either. It's still in the 70's-80's here in CT, but nights are getting cooler. Thanks.

Sheila
