Rain? What does it mean? How does it look like?

Coastal NC - we have been having extreme drought since February.

Please send some to the Piedmont of NC as well...we've not had any measurable rain in almost a month...

I have the opposite complaint, as you predicted many would... It's so bad here in the Atlanta area that I'm hoping Dean will come our way (majorly downgraded, of course) or at least send us a week's worth of rain.

What is maddening that we have thunder quite often and probably it rains several miles away but not in our specific micro climate. It happened more than once that we were shopping and the thunder and pouring rain took out the electricity in the shop so we had to wait till electricity was restored to be able to pay. We rushed home worried that the computers were on. Needless to say there was not a drop of rain in our close proximity.

same here. It's not only not raining, it's so dry my nostrils are cracked.

From the looks of things MIS will run the week after Thanksgiving. It looks like rain here through Tuesday.
Probably shouldn't be talking about this on the forum

Your post sounds just like the one I posted last May. All it did that month was rain, rain, rain--never have seen that much rain! By the time it ended, nearly all my roses were suffering from excess water and BS. What a miserable way to end the spring bloom--as in, no blooms on sickly looking plants!

Hope it works out better for you. At any rate, you have my full sympathy.

Where can you live in Michigan that you are complaining about rain? I live in the Tri Cities and it has been raining gently all day, and I love it!! It has been so dry here and we really need every drop we have gotten, and then some.

Hey buford, I wondered why my nostril was cracked.

I'd love to send away some of the rain we're getting here. We had a drought all summer, but then it started raining about two weeks ago and it hasn't stopped. We're under a flood watch now. Luckily nothing in the basement yet. We're supposed to get a few more days of rain before it dries out. The grass is fluorescent green from all the water. The roses still look okay but most of them are on the hill and should be fine. I'm only worried about the ones at the very bottom of the hill which is a bit of a bog right now.

Besides the fact that it stops some work I wanted to do, I'll take this rain. Nice and soft, and lucky for me I had just heavily fertilzed everything yesterday! The creek that splits my yard in two was getting real low. This will definitely help.

Yep. No rain all summer, now we've had 5 inches just this weekend, and they're predicting more. I have standing water in all of my beds. That's not good. If it doesn't stop soon everything will be ruined. At least during the drought I could water. There's nothing I can do about the rain.

wish some of that rain would come my way.Haven't had any rain here for a month.I was hoping Dean would get weaker and come this way and dump some rain here.Looks like Texas is going to get it all again.I am sure they don't need any more rain for awhile.

Wish we could re direct water around the US. Now THAT would be an amazing triumph of Man to leave to future generations! Maybe they could even be beautiful like the Roman aqueducts.

I feel like a thirsty grasshopper. I am grateful for any little cloud that shields us from the heat. Moved the pot ghetto into more shade and continue to water 2x a day. Rain just seems like a nostalgic idea from the past.

I agree with Kitty. Southern California has had 3 inches of
rain between June 1 2006 and now. It seems hard to fathom.
We usually get 12-15 inches and sometimes even 2-3x that.
I don't really miss the rain too much, all things considered. I live here because I don't like rain. However,
3 inches in over a year is a little bit dry even for my
tastes. I've also been watering my (container) roses twice
per day since temperatures have been 100, although the
summer has been unusually cool up until now so that has
been a big help.

The oak tree in the front yard gets leaf spot, and drops it's leaves on the smoke bushes (evil evil smoke bushes) which are directly in the row in front of the roses. It's this horrible pass it on down the lane style blackspot.

Just when you get ONE day with sun, the weather man comes on and curses us again.

We aren't just getting inches, we're getting feet. We are at 36" of rain and counting.

Yes, it's raining buckets here as well! We had a 4 hour power outage yesterday. Had to get all the candles lit. This weather sure is reminiscent of fall. We won't see another sunny day until Sunday, the day that I'll try to get out there to spray for blackspot.

I'll make-believe it is still summer until the bitter, cold, end.

P.S. Pete41, Not all of us Michiganders are NASCAR fans!
I prefer instead our 10 minute drive on a crisp, sunny, Saturday down to "THE BIG HOUSE" if you know what I mean?
