Where can one get Fields of the Woods?

I have read so much about this red climber on this forum -- all of it positive. In my flurry to have one I ordered it from a nursery that is rated very low on Dave's Garden Watchdog (Exciting Gardens) -- but I didn't know it at the time I placed my order. It arrived dead.

Beside the point, does anyone know where else I can order this climber from? I guess it's also know as Rhode Island Red?

Peg, I got mine last year from Countryside Roses (www.countrysideroses.com) I just took a quick look and their website shows it as available.

marita40....1950's. Good info. There's a "restore it", used building items here, they didn't have it. I emailed Robinsons antiques...maybe they'll put me on their list.....? In the mean time....I'll keep looking...but thanks to this thread and the idea of using 2 knobs....I was able to antique/blacken 2 little knobs and it should tide me over..:0) Here's what it looks like....now. I really appreciate all your help!!!

I'm working on a web site now and putting together samples of many cabinet styles and butcher block tops. I won't put up the web site until those are finished. The piece pictured above is an older piece I had sitting around. The newer version has slightly different proportions. The top is thicker, as are the slats and bottom rails. Also, the finish is different. There are many different configurations: closed cabinets; open pot racks on one end or both; cantilevered top for seating, etc., in many different finishes and styles. Island hood...where can I get a reasonably priced one.

Frigidaire makes a very well priced island hood. 400CFM for the basic ones Faber/Elica/Zephyr will have at least one, not crazy expensive model that is probably a little higher performing at 600 CFM

Mine also came from Countryside garden and it was a very nice, healthy and big band.

Mine was very healthy; in fact, the mail store people said we didn't have any packages so I kept watching for it and then contacted Countryside only to find out it had been AT the mail store for at least a week....sealed up in its box, in the dark. The dirt was still moist, it still had leaves and never even blinked! I have it in a pot and it's still getting established but the few blooms I've had so far are scrumptious.

You can't go wrong with Lisa at Countryside, she's good people, very customer service oriented.

Everyone's right when they say you can't go wrong with Lisa! I got mine there a few years ago, and although I cannot get it real large because of our winters, its still a great bush.

Thank you -- I ordered 2. What threw me is that they listed it as a Tea rather than a climber. Can't wait!

I perked up when you mentioned this rose is also known as Rhode Island Red, a rose I have.

But my CRL lists it's alternate name as Kocher Rose and then says it may also be RIR. Some confusion here!

RIR has been a hardy rose and a repeater but not that great. A wonderful color and nice form but not fantastic for me. And climber, forget it just a lanky bush here.

My only problem with this rose is that it isn't a great bloomer; healthy foliage, yes, but not many blooms. We have drought now but other roses are blooming while FoW stopped. I wonder if I planted it in a good spot. How much sun and water does this rose require to bloom well?
