Might I suggest 'Jeanne Lavoie'? She has miniature blooms, but they're perfectly formed, and she's a little shorter here in Kansas (6-8 feet tops) than you suggested, but she'll bloom continually and I've had no blackspot on her. Another possibility is the Canadian rose 'John Davis'; a good clear pink, continual bloomer, very double and opens flatter.

Funny how much climate can affect things. Zephirine around here is viewed as the perfect rose; fragrant, disease-resistant, and hardy.

I got nothing. I'm particular about climbers and like them really bushy, which fights against the need to walk thru an arbor.

Parade didn't like Mill Valley. It's gone. In the north bay, depending on how much fog you get, maybe it'll be good. Deep pink you say? Rhoda never grew tall for me, and this calls for a climber that repeats. My best semi-climbing rose is Compassion, which is a huge shrubby thing. The one trained on a pillar is decidedly less alluring that the one grown as a huge shrub, but it repeats well, has wonderful scent, and generally does credit to itself. But it isn't deep pink.

'Laguna'? Though she's pretty big. Color is pretty close to Zephie, but no mildew.

Laguna is quite similar indeed, also you might want to look at Rosarium Uetersen, he is not entirely that color and bloom form, but also very bright, darker glowing pink, as well as Pink Cloud, but I think he repeats less than two above.

I'm not in your zone, so I'm not sure how much help this will be, but I will say the following.

John Davis does NOT rebloom much (if any) for me in the hot, humid mid-Atlantic South. I had had such high hopes for it, but it has been a disappointment so far after about 4 years. I still hope it will take off.

Laguna seems to be doing well in her first year. It does seem to have a similar color as ZD. Mine is still small, but so far so good.

Parade ownroot is struggling where I have it, and I'm not sure why. She's sharing the location with Paul Transon which is growing by leaps and bounds. my friend grows Parade on multiflora, and his is a show stopper. I'm wondering if I should try it on multiflora. FWIW, New Dawn is a disaster in my yard.

Not sure if any of ths will help.

I grow Parade on a pillar, and I love it. Rebloom here is really good and I love the color. It gets a bit of bs, but I spray what I can reach (I don't spray over my head). Laguna is also a very nice rose! Very bs resistant, blooms a lot, with a slightly warmer hot pink than Parade.

Kate -Re ZD, I don't think it's you, or your care, or whether it is in your front or back garden. I am also in the SF North Bay, and tried ZD - a complete disaster! It was solid white all the time from mildew. Even drenching it with spray didn't help much. It apparently does well in other parts of the US, but not here.

Have you ever looked at Mme Caroline Testout? It is medium pink, which may be lighter than you want, but it is a fantastic rose here. It is a very old HT - has huge blowsy globular blooms which cause passer-byes to stop and stare. It grew in the yard of a vacant house near us for years & years with no care at all, in the shade, and I could still see the blooms up a plum tree from my house, which is 2 doors down. Just a thought --

hoovb, good info in your Laguna post. I often worry that Northern European-bred roses won't do well in California - canes burn, blooms fade, rebloom is absent. Good to know it manages well even in SoCal. The rust news worries me a bit. Does it rust all the way thru the leaflets? Some roses are resistant enough that if they do get late-season rust, it never mars the top of the leaflet.

A search of HMF had already demonstrated to me that it is really the nicest traditional-looking deep pink climber out there...tho, because I'm partial to singles, it might be equaled by a rare Japanese climbing miniature that isn't in commerce anywhere I can find.

Captain Samuel Holland is a very bright pink, free flowering rose that is very healthy for me.
It's not an old rose but it's a good rose.
Has a very nice scent too, I am not sure how it does in warmer climates though.

berndoodle, no, no rust through. Just on the backsides, and the foliage was very old, over a year.

As of today, only a little rebloom, but the spring flush was so stunning, so memorable, I really don't mind.

I don't have Zephy, but I did hear really bad things about mildew so never got it. I don't think it's your location in your yard, just your geographic location.

I'm sorry to hear about your Zeffy problems--

If Zeffy is happy in your area she will be a joy to behold---
I have several from cuttings and some do better than others even in the same yard---

Zeffy is one of my favorite roses and I look foward to her fragrant blooms after a long winter---

I've been told ZD just isn't a California girl. Unfortunately, I got that advice AFTER I planted mine. It's the only plant with powdery mildew in my garden right now. Not a lot - and it has some scattered blooms now too - but enough to remind me that this isn't its favorite place. Some springs it manages to develop PM, rust and a scattering of blackspot all at once. So, it's not only you who can't get it to be healthy. Why do I still have it? I'm lazy about removing big roses, and it still produces a nice, occasionally spectacular, display every spring (if you don't demand perfect foliage).

I wouldn't put Mme Caroline Testout (CL) in any place that I had to walk through or train those incredibly thorny canes. We grow it in the cemetery as a big arching bush, and still hate getting near it for its infrequent pruning. We don't get a lot of repeat on it, either.

What about training a pillar rose? I know that not everybody will agree, but Mme Isaac Perrier stays quite healthy in the Sacramento cemetery and reblooms well, too - and is incredibly fragrant. I have a friend who is growing it on a trellis on his house, and it produces ten foot canes when trained up. He also has Gertrude Jekyll on a trellis, another lanky large plant with deep pink, fragrant flwers that I think does better either whacked hard or pillared/trellised.

If you have room, you could put another small shrubby repeat blooming rose at the base, the way that Paul Zimmerman recommends on his video. Pillared and climbing roses often are bare on the bottom third or half of an arbor.

Many climbers are really too big for the usual garden arbor. I have 8' tall ones with a five foot opening, and three foot sides. They were considered the "big arbors" when I bought them but are overwhelmed by most climbing roses. That's another reason to consider a pillar rose.

I have Mme. Bovary and Zepherine Drouhin planted next to each other. The color is exactly the same in a northern exposure. Bovary is a French Delbard rose with frighteningly thorny canes but large and profuse blooms that repeat reliably. We've had roses from the plant throughout the summer. There's a touch of disease this year following a very rainy spring, but it's normally completely healthy in our no-spray garden. I'd show you photos but the only images I have feature horrifying 3-4 ft. grass and weeds and I'm too embarrassed. :-(
