Dear Carol,
What an absolute sweetie you are! I was feeling kinda sorry for myself (stuck in a HORRIBLE day at work and 103 degrees out.) And all of the pugs at home snoozing away without a thought of me (did that sound whiney enough?) And so here you come with my handsome pal Beau and that gorgeous bouquet of plonk and it seems I'll just have to sit up straight and put a smile on my face-- thank you for that kind friend.

I've noticed that there are a few gems lying similarly hidden on the RVR website. It seems as though there are roses which were entered with just enough information for them to be purchased, but missing info on class, color, scent, etc. which prevents them from appearing when searching by any of those criteria. Considering their rather large inventory, if there's something you're seeking, try looking alphabetically. That's how I stumbled upon their "Louis Philippe from Florida" and "Reine des Violettes from Florida" (though I didn't end up buying them). :-) ~Christopher

Hey Everyone, I recd some GREAT seeds from Diene, Annnnd My box is here from Deb !! I think this is going to be the best lookin yard around this summer ! I cant wait !! Diene sent me... impatient mix ( ive never done them from seed, cant wait !) pink astilbe zinnia asters fuschia ( gotta get them going, I love asters !) veronica liatris fireball ALLIUM ALL seeds I really really wanted, sooo AWESOME, thanks so much !! Debs box contained..... morning glory seeds ( I just said I needed more !) cleome seeds ( bflies will love them) Boston Ivy, I just saw this in a book, and wanted it, so cool aloe plant ( hubby already claimed this one) Iris, unknown color 4 glad bulbs a really cute candle light..did you make this Deb ? a cute little birdhouse, I am gonna use with my plants in the kitchen. a snowman, which is really cute...cant wait to use him ! a silicone toppings spatula, which will be great at Christmas when we make all our cookies. That's it in a nutshell, Nikki...it's just the thought, not the actual day. So I will feel special no matter WHEN ya'll decide to send. I promise. :O) This weather is really strange. It rained the nearly the entire month of May, then the last week of May & this week, it's been in the 90's and bone dry. All the wet just evaporated, and all the plants wilted from the shock!! It's raining again today...but I don't know what the plants will do tomorrow when the sun comes out, and they start baking all over again! I've lost several plants this past week, just because it was too much for them. The only things looking halfway decent are the daylilies, and even they are dropping leaves! I'm ready for things to settle down, I tell you what. Over the past 3 weeks, I've lost an uncle, my friend lost her daughter in a car accident (she was in a coma for a week, and we thought she might actually make it), the front end went out from under the suburban while I was driving it to my uncle's funeral, the roof is leaking, the toilet isn't flushing, and I'm worn out. Hubby has asked me to take a break from swapping for the next month or 2, just to give myself one less thing to worry about. He usually knows when I'm close to the breaking point LONG before I do. Anyway...all that is on top of the usual stuff- homeschooling the kids, DR's appts, hubby working 14 hours a day, a teething baby, other mundane life things....WHEW.... Yes, I'm ready for things to settle down just a bit. Even just a month with no vehicle trouble, that'd be good! LOL Ok..sorry about that, I just had to vent a bit. :O) I didn't even know I had it in me! I hope everyone is doing OK? I haven't seen Kym post in awhile, so I hope she's feeling better. Mama Fran- you don't seem to be posting as much lately, either...I hope things are OK with you? Mariann~ I hope you feel better soon. That stuff is hard to kick it seems! Hugs to everyone!

Luanne can you please tell me what the deeper pink rose is in the middle picture? It looks as though it may be a China but whatever it is I really like it and would love to know the name.

Ingrid, that is rosa palustris of the bamboo style foliage, been blooming since June, non0stop. It's a cousin of the swamp rose. I got it from Ashdown's.

Thank you, Luanne. I've heard this rose blooms for a long time and has a very graceful growth habit. I'm surprised it's doing so well for you in California, but of course I'm more inland and south of you, in what was essentially semidesert before irrigation and probably have more alkaline soil than this rose would like. I truly enjoyed your picture of this unusual rose.

You guys are the very best! This thread lifted me up and carried me through a delightful post-birthday weekend despite continuing triple digit heat. What beautiful flowers, what silly, smiley and noble canines, what sweet sentiments (and I'll pass along the greetings to DH "Holedigger"). You should've seen the blind pugs lined up at the "magic box" (refrigerator) for baby carrots--we went through 5 bags this weekend :-) Love to you all
