Lunar Mist Romantica
Comments (8)I grow Lunar Mist next to the cultivar it sported from, Colette. The color of LM is pale yellow; the center tends to be a deeper shade of yellow than the outer petals. The canes are long and lax and have a generous number of prickles/thorns; I always use my thick leather gloves with gauntlets when I need to prune it or work around it. The flowers have a high petal count and are around 3.5 inches across, which to me are medium. It is a very fast and vigorous grower in my garden and repeats well; the canes grow to 10 to 12 feet long. I do recall that Colette, the cultivar from which it sported, had a rather high ARS rating (8.5?). Lunar Mist and Collette have been good roses for me....See MoreRomantica
Comments (16)Well, as I stated I am in NC but coastal. So far I found that in inland NC certain roses are no-spray but I must spray them. So maybe there are a few Romanticas that you could grow no-spray in your climate. Traviata is a serious candidate but has no fragrance, so if you choose only one I would not recommend that one. Try Colette or Bolero. Bolero is a low growing floribunda, if you get it own root it will take time to reach some size (mine was a band from Northland) so you could keep it in a pot and move around to see how much sun it requires to stay clean. Mine gets sone in the morning till 1 PM because I planted it in the front of the red bed. Colette was absolutely bulletproof for me so far but after being clean for MichaelG for years last year he reported serious bs issues. In Olga's climate Colette was better than average but not so clean than here. I adore that rose so I hope it stays as clean as it has been in the last 5 or 6 years....See MoreRed Veined Romantica?
Comments (2)The veining makes me think of the 'hand-painted' roses. Once you can post a picture, we'll have a better idea. Do you know if it has more than one bloom cycle? ANd about how many petals? A...See MoreWhat is a Romantica rose?
Comments (0)Meidiland, the big rose nursery in France, has introduced a line of roses that are very full of petals and look like the old roses. They call them Romanticas and they all have names of well known people in history such as Leonardo da Vinci, Toulouse Lautrec, Auguste Renoir etc. These roses are a mixed classification as some are hybrid teas, floribundas as well as shrub roses....See Morelandperson
