Looks to me like the bush is leaning trying to catch more sun. If that is what it is doing, pruning it won't help because the new growth will start doing the same thing.

I suggest you move the rose to a place where it doesn't have to reach for the sun--and at least 3-5 ft away from any sprinkler heads.

Maybe some other posters will have some other ideas.

Yes, as Kate says, is it growing underneath something else, a tree or large shrub?

Looks like a few of mine that got a little large for the location they were in.
I've got a number of those steel fence posts, the kind that has the little hook like gizmos to attach wire fencing to and a plate towards the bottom to hold it in place when it's driven into the ground. I put one on either side of a bush that leans like that and tie a stout rope to them. This holds the canes straight.

What sits at north side of the rose in question is the wood fence which you can see in the picture, and south side is lawn area which is wide open, however, the trees from the neighbour hangs over the rose a little bit like the pic below shows. That could force the rose to go sideways because it bumps its head on the tree ?

If the tree over the rose is causing the problem, the neighbour should prune the tree, but what should i do with the rose stems that have already gone sideways ?
Should i use ropes and steel poles to keep them straight, or should I prune the parts that grew wrong direction ?

If you want the bush to get bushier cut it back. If you want to keep it like it is but straighter, support it with the rope and poles. Whichever you chose, keep in mind if the reason it grew as it did isn't changed, it'll grow back the same way unless you support it some way. Which ever you do has to be your choice. All we can do is give you options.

I checked to see if your e-mail address was on your info page but it wasn't. although it's easiest to post pictures from PhotoBucket, Flicker, or other photo site, that's not always an option. If you know the code you can post pictures from any webpage as long as the picture has an URL.

One thing I would do is cut off anything hanging over from the neighbor's side back to the fence. You are legally entitled to cut anything coming over from the neighbor back to the property line, which I am assuming is the fence. Check your local laws to be sure, but that's the general law in most areas.

Sun loving plants try to avoid other plants by growing away from them, to maximise their sun exposure. They'll try to avoid fences, too, for the same reason.

Here's what I think your essential problem is: that planting bed looks REALLY narrow. You are going to always have plants hanging out of narrow beds unless the plants are very small or have a perfectly upright, narrow growth habit. Narrow planting beds are a pain unless they're done on purpose with specific plants in mind, (which they rarely are). Builders often slap in a really narrow bed and pop in a few plants to sell the property, but they are nearly always sized incorrectly (too narrow).

What I think you have there are plants too big for the space provided. If you don't want them hanging over into the lawn area or paved area, make the planting bed wider, or cut back the rose regularly, or move the rose elsewhere and put something very narrow or very small in that spot. You could put up a trellis and grow a moderate sized vine of some sort, for example.

It looks like there is plenty of sun. It's just a floppy rose.

You don't have to let the rose grow the way it wants to. You can cut back stems after they bloom out and keep repeating that until you have a stouter, more upright plant. Cut back until the cane is semi-upright, and cut to an upward-facing bud eye (leaf joint). Vertical shoots will come out, bloom, and arch forward; then cut those behind the peak of the arch when you remove the faded blooms.

At this point, it doesn't look like the neighbor's plant is interfering much with the rose, but you should prune off anything that is interfering or shading heavily. If I wanted to support the rose, I would use the fence instead of stakes, but it may not be needed with pruning.

What is the rose by the way? It might be that it is a sprawler rather than an upright growing variety...
