Louis Phillipe has come unwound

As posted in an earlier thread, Louis Phillipe had already had his foundation of twiggy branches pruned away by my helper until he flopped all over the place. I decided to go with advice I received on this great forum to use bungee cords to pull him back into place.

That worked fine until he tangled with TS Debbie. He just came apart in the heavy wind and rain. I see no way to put him/them back together (there are about seven or eight of them). Has anyone pruned him severely and how did he react? At this point, I'm not sure I really have a choice.

Before this disaster I didn't realize how China canes were so entwined and dependent upon each other. Or perhaps it's just LP, as my other Chinas are quite small compared to eight foot LP. This has been a real learning experience for me.
