It could possibly be a Globe Thistle? It's really hard to tell from a picture, but that would be my first guess. It could also be an herb that has gone to seed. Basil has about a zillion different varieties and is one possibility. Do the leaves smell "spicish"?

stachys hummelo is a possibility

I'll second a Stachys of some sort. Note similarity of leaves to plant in the link -- that plus the stacked whorls in the inflorescenses.

I'm so glad you all have a clue, I had no idea:) Stachys for sure, now I must figure out what kind, or try a new one. I can't seem to get any seeds out of the dried up blossoms, any ideas about that?

It looks like Stachys officinalis. I have S.o. 'Rosea' and yours is probably the same. If so the flowers are medium pink. If you deadhead it will rebloom and can be divided. It is very well behaved staying a tight clump. Mine has never self seeded. I will check mine for seeds.

From those flower stems that are dried, cut off the dried flowers and put them in a brown paper bag. In the next couple of months you can separate out the seeds, preferably while in your easy chair in front of the fire. Al
