sambac - Thanks so much for the offer. I really appreciate that. We can take care of details a couple of weeks before the show. OK, here's the update. I did take the plant out of its pot today. With a little, gentle rocking it came out with only a couple of stuck roots. I guess when I originally potted this one I only used a few large pieces of lava rock, so that didn't cause any problems either. The bad news: I simply could not tell where one plant began and the other one ended. I think they may be growing on top of each other or something. It would have been impossible to get them apart unless I wanted a lot of little pieces. I didn't. They shall live out their lives forever entwined. I think it was a good thing I did take this one out of the pot. Although I didn't find any bad roots, they sure were packed in there tight. Had I let this go another season, I might have had problems. It's now in a basket with a couple of lava rock pieces. Hopefully it can stay there for quite some time. The other good news is that I didn't find a single bush snail. Usually my plants in lava rock really seem to attract them. Maybe the snail bait I started using last spring is working. K

since you seem squeamish to do it ... the better question might be.. how do you actually do it ... its probably going to be a medusa like glob of roots which is not going to be condusive to be cut up easily ... per the above.. its sounds like a 'run it over with the truck' plant.. sharpen your shovel ... i mean real sharp .. wrestle it out of the pot ... and just go to town on cutting that thing up with the shovel ... half it.. quarter it .. have little fear... worst you can do is kill it.. lol ... since i have no experience with this plant .. am i right on just taking after this thing???? just keep in mind.. with many things.. they are not children.. dont treat them as such.. just do it ... carpe spadum ... lol ... ken ps: you might even have to jump on it a few times ... to flatten it enough.. so it doesnt roll while using your surgical shovel .... in the alternative.. get a serrated butcher knife from the dollar store.. and again.. go to town.. chainsaw??? ... sawzall ??? .... just do it ... there arent many grass type plants that are in the foo foo category of prima donnas ...

I must admit that you guys seem like a happy group for people that admit that they bought a less than quality product but decided to make the best of it AND MAKE IT BETTER. That is why AMERICA will always win. We never quit. I personally grew up on an Island, connected to the mainland by a bridge, granted, but the nearest town of any size was 42 miles away and it wasn't all that big either. My father could make ANYTHING FIT or WORK and I can recall time and time again when he did just that. I am very pleased to acknowledge that I have those genes running in my veins. The Oreintials (read China) might be able to make it cheaper, but WE make it BETTER. I absolutely LOVE to read how y'll have improved and strengthen those little flimsy, twisty pieces of left over beer cans and made them into things of beauty and STRENGTH. Hello Everyone, Since the scope of the listing of unstoppable Texas plants was so broad, I thought I would narrow it down to just super tough plants that add fragrance to your garden! My limited personal experience only consists of a few plants, and they only produce fragrance for only a part of a season (I have parts of the year that I need to fill with fragrance)! Hopefully you all can help me expand my garden so that at least I can have something to walk by at any time of the year and have something nice to smell! Here is my listing of what I know: Lady Banks - My white one actually has some fragrance to it, although it isn't as nice of a smell as some of the other flowers, it does have fragrance. This is a springtime blooming/fragrance plant. Wisteria - Again, another super tough plant, but only blooms and has fragrance in the spring. (BWT, my 5 gal plant that I got last year seems to only produce leaves, but no flowers/fragrance! Did I get a lemon, or does it have to mature more?) Violet Lantana - I was surprised late last summer(maybe even fall?) last year when I walked by my light purple lantana and couldn't figure out where the nice smell was coming from! I had a mental block thinking that Lantanas only produced nice looking flowers! Copper Canyon Daisy - This plant actually has more of an herb fragrance when the wind blows through it, but it does produce fragrance all year (well, actually, I always cut mine back every year, and it takes a few months for it to grow back enough to have enough leaves to create fragrance!) Texas Mountain Laurel - I learned of this one from the FW BG, so I bought a couple 1 gals, but it looks like it is going to take forever for it to get big enough to bloom and produce flowers/fragrance! It is tough and evergreen, but it only seems to produce fragrance in the spring as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for fragrance the whole year round?
