Gathered Black Eyed Susan Vine seed pods - what next?

Been gardening for years and finally decided to try saving some seed for next season. Found the little pods on my Black Eyed Susan vine, and picked a few of the green pods and put them in a cup for now. I know the seed is inside, but do I let them dry out til next spring or plant them to grow inside for now?

Also, my neighbor insists that gathering some of the Cardinal Flower (Lobelia Cardinalis) seeds off the dry plant heads and sprinkling them on (and in) the ground "now" will produce more plants next spring. I thought I had to wait until the Spring to plant the seeds....any advice or suggestions???

Same neighbor swears that cutting a stem or two off a plant and just putting it in the ground now - will produce a new plant next Spring. Anyone have luck with this??

Thanks much.

Jan
