Suggestions...Midnight Blue Lobelia, White Impatiens and ???
Comments (9)I just wanted to thank all of you for your helpful suggestions. I had a list of all the suggested plants and I checked them all out at the nursery, but the one that I ultimately decided to go for was the Japanese Painted Fern (thanks Vickster). The silver leaves with deep reddish-purple hues looks absolutely perfect with the blues and whites. Granted, it is not as colorful or bright as some of the other suggestions, but it looks very happy in its new home. One of the garden shows I recently watched mentioned that there ferns and mosses add something to the garden that "makes it look old" (in a good way, of course). The deck definitely looks more established with all the new plants. Plus, I can transplant the fern in the fall into a shady spot near my Galium Odoratum. I loved the idea of the yellow snapdragons, but I was afraid they wouldn't do well in such a shady spot. Maybe I'll try to pair the snapdragons with the lobelia in a sunnier spot in the yard, since I do love yellow and blue together (I've had two beds of narcissus and grape hyacinth in bloom for the past month in the front yard). Thanks again for the great ideas. Here is a link that might be useful: Japanese Painted Fern...See MoreMonday's Magnificent Marvels (photos)
Comments (21)Maryl - I've only had two blooms on Lake Tahoe Autumn so far. I love the bloom, but I have no idea about plant habits here yet. The first day it bloomed the weather was cool. Today it was a humid 91 degrees, and the color held pretty well. It did fade a bit, but the bloom, which has thick substance, was still colorful and pretty at 7 p.m. I think it will do even better keeping it's color when it's out of a pot and in the ground. I will say the bloom held up better than the other new Trimmer late I got this spring, Wild Apple Autumn. Debra...See MoreMarvelous "M" daylilies, let's see them!

Comments (11)Conny spectacular show! We are having the same temperature dips tonight and all week here too. I am letting mine all tough it out for another 2 weeks before I bring them indoors. I bought some seeds of Triple Indigo from Adeniumcenter! I have a plant about blooming age, she is 2/3 covered in white leaves. I've moved her to a different spot to see if she is getting too much light. Can't wait to see yours bloom! Following :) Tracy...See Morevaltorrez
