Leaf Damage from Heat (with pics)

Hello all. With all the talk about heat stress and vegetation this year, I thought I would throw my experience out there to the GW universe. I have been keeping records in a journal about the heat that has been ever so persistent this summer. Even through the 113* days, I noticed leaf tatter here and there, but most everything stayed WNL as long as I kept them hydrated. Most trees in this topic got anywhere from 5-10 gallons water a week depending on the heat. All are mulched about 6' diameter 1-2" thick. All were planted this spring or last fall. Then we had back to back 120* days and boy did things change... amazing what that kind of heat can do to leaves..,

First the numbers:

Here are the numbers from June 29 (when I began keeping records) to August 8 (40 day stretch):

100* days - 39

105* days - 36

110* days - 16

115* days - 5

119* days - 2

120* days - 1

Here are the pics after the 119.9* and 120.6* days. I can still add pics of my southern magnolia, forest pansy redbud, and a couple more red maples if requested.

Again, this is heat damage. I watered on Sunday and Monday 5 gallons to every one of these trees and leaves looked fine. It was not until after the extreme temps the leaves looked like this.
