looking for chorisia speciosa..floss silk tree seeds.. have orchid tree seeds for trade

Thanks, Joe! I called them and left a message on their voice mail - I guess they are not open on week-ends. If I don't hear back from them, I will call them again on Monday to see if they have any referrals to west-side nurseries. I would rather not have a nursery order it for me because I have no idea what I would get. I would prefer to pick it out myself, and I thought that perhaps they were for sale retail only when blooming. We are almost finished with the major revisions of landscaping for the front yard (the back yard is a couple of years from completion), and so I was anxious to get this last major plant. One thing I like about this tree is that it does grow rather quickly, unlike the Mamey that I bought a couple of weeks ago for the back yard. That tree will stay in a large pot for the next two years until I have the space ready for it. Lars

I'd check to see if you have a drainage issue, gophers eating the roots, or maybe you have drip irrigation and the second tree is not getting any water. If the soil is staying too wet, you could be rotting out the roots. If it is gophers, you will see some obvious signs of tunnels and mounds. If an irrigation problem, the area at this tree will obviously be quite dry. If none of the above, could this spot have chemical contamination from paint, paint thinner, herbicides or building construction rubble? You might want to dig the tree up to investigate what is going on at the roots, and get a soils test for toxicity contamination if there are no obvious signs of the other problems I suggested above.

Hi All. After reading everyone's posts, I thought, my Chorisia does resemble Pachira. So, I grabbed the Chorisia pot, brought it outside to compare to two Pachiras..One braided, the other a standard trunk. Unlike Pachira, Chorisia has serrated leaves. Little saw-like teeth surrounding leaf edges. Color differs, too. Pachiras are deep green. Chorisia is much lighter. Unless my Chorisia has a defiency...I have nothing to compare to. I Googled Chorisia pictures, but most are mature specimens/trees. lol. Lz, I scrolled up but couldn't find the height of your Chorisias. Have you measured? If so, what is their height? They look tall. Especially since you said you'd like to cut them down to a foot. Yep, when soil dries, leaves wilt fast. I repotted from a 3" clay to a 4.5" plastic pot because soil needed daily watering. Will you up the pot size or prune roots? I'd like to find a variegated Chorisia, if one exists. lol. Even though I vowed, no more plants. BTW, do you consider Chorisia fast-growing? Toni
