identifying a multi-trunked, smooth-barked tree from Scotland

I recently went to Scotland and met an AMAZING tree which I have been trying to identify ever since, with no luck.

leaves: simple, unlobed, entire, alternate, elongated coming to a point at base and tip (no needle-like bristle at the tip), rather thick, shiny, curves down at the edges a little, about 4 inches long.

bark: smooth with small horizontal slashes

trunk: multi-trunked, about 5 trunks (pretty sure it is all the same tree), very random angles (not straight vertical), almost muscle-like ridges in the structure.

berries/flowers: don't know enough to tell if this is a flower or a fruit, but there were upright stems ending in pale yellow clusters.
