Woodlouse (Armadillidium), Roly Poly Bugs. Question?

I've mulched my beds a few weeks back with composted cow manure, added some biochar also, and this week I noticed a huge increase in the number of these little critters. I have not seen damage to my plants, and I read in Wikipedia they are not harmful unless in huge numbers. I have also noticed that they have a taste for dog poop. My new puppy has taken one flower bed as a toilet(A habit I have to correct), I used to take away the poop, but now I noticed that these little bugs eat it and in a few days it is gone!

Does anyone have some experience with them? What can you tell me about them? Do they help the soil like earthworms?

Thanks for any info,

Santi
