How 'hot' is too hot?

Well, guys, i'm just sick about something. I'm in the process of planting a new bed, and i needed a little soil to build up the area. I thought i was ordering five cubic yards of soil, with a little compost mixed in. My plan was to till THIS mix into the native soil and plant up my bed.

Alas, the truck came with 5 cubic yards of 100% compost that the guy said was "too hot to plant directly in." I asked him how long it had aged, and he said 30 to 60 days.

We agreed he would take it back and make a mix of 1/3 compost to soil and deliver that, increasing my total cubic yards to seven.

Now i'm not sure what's coming in the truck, but i have this horrible feeling i totally screwed up, didn't ask the right questions, and am getting compost that's "too young" to add more than it depletes. Am i panicking overmuch?
