Does anyone grow Pink Prosperity Hybrid Musk?

I never see it referred to--am I the only one growing it?

Don't remember now how or why I picked it out (probably a gorgeous photo of the blooms somewhere), but I've had mine for 3-4 years now and it rarely puts out pale pink blooms. Usually they are kinda dirty white looking. Is that typical of this rose? Or will a few more years improve it maybe?

Right now it has one newer cane blooming pale pink--but I want the whole bush blooming that color. Any suggestions?

Oh, it is is partial shade, but gets lots of sun (too much, maybe) later in the day. But it isn't bleaching white--most of the blooms just are white. I was beginning to think Roses Unlimited goofed and sent me the white Prosperity.

Appreciate any feedback.

Doesn't sound like "Pink Prosperity" to me, too much of a variation in color, even for a shaded rose. All the "Pink Prosperity" rosebushes I've seen bloomed in a hard shade of pink, which I'm not at all fond of.
I grow "Prosperity" and the blooms are soft pure white.

I suggest you write to the nursery and tell them what you've posted.
If you're considering choosing another pink H.M., I'd like to suggest my favorite pink Hybrid Musk, for color is "Cornelia" the bloom color ranges from medium pink in the heart of the bloom to light pink on the edges. In the autumn the bloom color includes a sophisticated hue of copper-pink. I Love that rose. One of Pembertons' best, and to me he was the penultimate breeder of Hybrid Musks.

Manners, pink and frothy, "Bubble Bath" is a also a great favorite of mine, for its' delicious wafting fragrance that carries on the air for several yards from the bush. The form of bush, itself has something wild and exotic in the appearance of its' dark foliage and long supple canes, when grown as a large spread out bush,(6'x6', here) instead of a climber.

Thank you for the information and the suggestions for replacements. I will check them out.

In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on Pink Prosperity. It occurs to me that it may not get watered as much as the other roses since it is located in the far back corner of the back yard. Maybe I'll try watering it more regularly and see if that improves the blooms. But I still may want to replce it by next spring. We'll see.

If anyone else has comments on Pink Prosperity, I will be interested in reading them.

You might ask the folks at the Antique Rose Emporium, with their experience with roses in the south. They offer a lot of Hybrid Musks. This information probably isn't very directly useful to you, since a rose's performance depends so much on climate BUT I wish to put it on the record that a happy mature plant of 'Cornelia' is one of the most flawlessly beautiful sights in the entire rose kingdom. Like any work of art it's greater than the sum of its parts. About the habit of the Hybrid Musks, some have a shrubby self-supporting habit, for example 'Felicia', while others are like pocket ramblers, with flexible canes that are easy to trellis: 'Cornelia' falls into this class. Yeah, I recently had to replace mine. I originally got it from Vintage Gardens many yrs ago. It was very slow growing. But I find that I don't plant bands in the ground right away any more. They seem to take forever to grow. It took like 4-5yrs to get a decent size, and just as it was beginning to get some good blooms, it up and died on me. I also lost another rose next to it a yr or so later, and I think it was the fact that I wasn't keeping track of my sprinklers. I think they just got dried out in that particular area due to the water spray missing them. Anyway, once it got going, it was quite lovely. It peaked out about 3ft. Didn't have much disease as I recall. The color range is pretty amazing, going from apricot to peach to pink and orange, and all sorts of blends in between. I just got my replacement last summer from RVR, but it hasn't bloomed yet. Here's pics of the old plant's blooms over a few yrs:

I'd vote for 'Cornelia' for best pink Hybrid Musk, with its' strong musk and rose wafting scent, followed by 'Felicia' which smells of watermelon to me. . I think the dark green foliage of Cornelia makes it one of the best landscaping roses for it is a lovely plant to look at even between bloom cycles. Lyda rose is very fragrant but the prickles have stabbed me so many times I'm glad she's in my back yard and nowhere near a walkway. . They are all excellent roses. Lux.

Thanks, Vaporvac. Good to know they are working for you. But maybe they prefer zone 6 to zone 9. Yes, it must be the R. multiflora that gives them some shade tolerance. I also purchased Pink Prosperity from RU. And, despite the obvious differences in climate, our experiences are pretty much the same. The colors are a dirty white, rarely pink, and the plant suffers from dieback, powdery midlew, and a general lack of beauty. I will probably shovel prune it this year and plant something else (out of the pot ghetto) as PP is not earning its place in the garden. JimD
