Trash Can - Yay or Nay?
Comments (17)Seeing the kitchen trash can from the entry is not pretty, but if it's all you've got.....well......people will have to deal with it. I don't like the wicker for trash. For bedroom or office trash, yes. I have wicker too. For coffee grounds and meat fat and scraping plates into and paper towels used to soak up the grease from my sweet potato fries? Um, no. I have a good size metal can with a step-on lid. It's not a Simple Human, because I didn't know about them when I bought my can. You can still see the top of the white garbage liner, but it is trash, after all. If you like the wicker and are willing to deal.............I'm not telling you what to do. We all have our limits and also our things that are not biggies. But I have just two suggestions if it were my house. 1. Find another spot not so obvious from the entry. Smaller can under sink/next to back door/whatever. Use whatever you like, but hide it. 2. Get a good trash can, metal with step-on or automatic lid. Good liners that don't droop and are easy tie. Make sure someone (I vote MALE........male DH, male teen, male 8 yr.old, etc.) takes it out every night. Ritual. Non-negotiable unless momma spent the day in bed with flu and there's no cooking trash. Leave it in your best spot. When you give a home tour, simply begin with the trash can. ("Oh, you want to see the house? Of course! Well, here's my trash can. You can put your gum in there right now if you want. This way to the Living room, where I've just spent lots of time painting and decorating. Here is my original Matisse. Nice, huh? Want to see the boudoir?") Red...See MoreSummer flush!

Comments (21)I don't personally like tile at all. But that isn't the question here. I'm not ever going to be in the market for a high-7 figure home. I sincerely doubt most people on GW or Houzz are, either. I have mixed flooring materials in my home. We have 75-yr old red oak random width flooring on the main floor. When we picked the LVP I chose a woodgrain that had a similarly warm tone, but was distinctly different. If we had chosen wood-look tile, I would have done the same thing. Something in the overall tonal range, but intended to harmonize, not match. Even to put in HW through the entire house, I would probably still pick different woods for separate floors. I've been in houses that used the same wood flooring everywhere and there was just something a little too 'matchy-matchy' about it, for my liking....See MoreQuestion about Foliar treatment of Fish Emulsion
Comments (45)I don't have to use it ever in the house....I use a softer version or Neem mixed with alchohol and a bit of natural soap and at times I ad Rosemary Oil since I hate the smell of Neem. Or I get lazy and just use Horticultural Soap to get me through but so far I have had no need. Maybe the reason why I have no scale and other pest of that nature that everyone else seems to get is because I make a much stronger mix. Still my mix has never burned the leaves on my plants when spraying early in the morning or later in the afternoon or even in the afternoon when it was the only time I had time to. There is also a very good product that will wipe out mites and other pest rather quickly that you can put on the end of a hose and do a very good soaking on all your plants that many I know that do and have great success..They us All Seasons Dormant Oil......See Morejim1961 / Central Pennsylvania / Zone 6
