Hi Alexa,I have several plants that are 8-10 years old and they form a fairy ring.A month from now they will be fully leafed out and I will not notice the fairy ring.My thinking is that fairy rings are part of the aging process of hostas,The center either died from age or is hardened from age and no longer can throw eyes. Growing new eyes each year is the plants way of staying alive for years with the interior dying out as part of the aging process.I have not read anything to confirm this but in my little world it makes the most sense. If Sagae looks healthy I would think about doing nothing with it.Phil

OA, I'm not sure about NO, but Mobile has already had their first parade. So this tablesetting fit right in! Oh, and I was gonna send everything to you, but just couldn't find a box large enough. I wish I had known earlier...I was in Mobile Saturday and would have run out there. I even debated on buying Nene's Dark Skies Bubble Rider to put on the table close to the compote, but just never did order it. I love those fairies! Do you remember which section of the flea market the lady was in? DD, I don't have a tablecloth in this color...wish I did. I bought the napkins from a seller on ebay, but she didn't have a tablecloth. I had never seen any chargers like these before, but I just fell in love with them when I saw them. Then I was ebaying one night and happened across the salad plates. Match made in heaven! Lynn, I do have a small collection of dolls. I have the three that I use around my tree at Christmas. I also have some 50-60's high heeled fashion dolls. They range from about 16-20" tall. Mo, thank you! I wasn't sure how the gold was going to work out when I started the table, but I was really pleased when I finished. Slinkey, I started folding the napkins and realized I didn't have any napkin rings other than pastels. I couldn't even find any dark ribbon to tie them with. So, the tassels wrapped around the napkins ended up being a last ditch effort to find something to use on them.

This looks healthy to me. Rot would be soft, wet mushy areas, usually at the base. Most cactus will grow pale green in low light, and darker often reddish green in brighter light, which is what you want. Too much red is a sign of stress in light that is too intense. Yours looks fine. Repotting it out of that wet heavy soil is a good idea. Be sure to use something gritty and fast draining, such as half bagged cactus mix and half perlite. Washing the old soil off the roots will give you a chance to check for rot below the soil line. There is usually brown 'corking' of the skin in this area, but as long as there are no soft mushy spots, it is fine. Good luck!

Ooh, Dara - how exciting! I'd never heard of the Heritage Rose Australia before - I must look it up! I would love to join fellow rose lovers and view gardens on the tour - perhaps not the whole thing but certainly the part in Perth. (And thank you so much for the compliment about my garden :-) ) Marlorena - yes, that little tree is a frangipani (plumeria) - it was one of the earliest things I planted when we first moved in the house. There had been a native peppermint tree growing in that spot which inexplicably just turned brown & died, so I had to replace it - and a frangipani was recommended. It's got beautiful pink flowers, although it's not really fragrant. Oh, and I'll share my photos of John Clare next! :-) Karen - I love that phrase "fat and sassy" - haha! And yes, Golden Celebration has one of my favourite fragrances. I think Jude is my favourite, followed by Golden Celebration and Windemere. Ingrid - we get hardly any rain in the summer months but we do get rain in winter - so I think that's more than you? It must be so hard for you to cope with the drought conditions. We do have water restrictions in summer - we're only allowed to run the drip irrigation twice a week - but we can water by hand as much as we like, and in the last month, I've been out there almost every day carrying buckets of collected waste water from the kitchen & bathroom out to the roses. Rosylady - yes, I think you're right! I'm very lucky that the previous owners chose the light stone walls and had the house painted white. It's actually brick but covered with a white plaster coating, and it does keep everything light and bright. In fact, in mid-summer, I find it a bit too dazzling to look out sometimes as the sun reflects off the walls and there's a terrible glare. But it does help all the colours stand out! ~ HY
