This manual works for a number of the Kohler series engines. This manual will tell you how to tear down and repair certain of the Kohler engines. This is the manual I went by in rebuilding my 1200 Cub Cadet.

I finally was able to find the info on the web, and found the correct data i need to fix it.
I also visited a friend in Mars, Pa., who is a Cub Cadet fan and fixer, and he gave me an old carb with the correct throttle arm to use on it.
Now, on Monday, I'll be going to get the tractor and bring it home to work on it inside, as the weather is cooling down now. My helper will be free to give me a hand. It also gave me an excuse to clean out the garage, and put some summer stuff out back in the shed.
I have a neat old hand-crank winch with a cable, and maybe i can fix that into the bed of the pickup.
My helper has a low flat-bed trailer, and, if he can get the tow vehicle out of his wife's hands, we can use it instead. He said it might happen! Thanks again: Rusty Jones

Up-date for Wind-catcher: The info on the manual for K-series Kohlers was very helpful!
We brought it home this a.m., and i got to work on it. There had been too many fumble fingers in it before me, but i finally managed to print out the instruction sheets i needed, and finally got it to work. hopefully tomorrow, i'll have it running. It all looks ok, so wish me luck!

You're quite welcome. You helped me years ago find a better front end for my Farmall Cub, and I've always wanted to repay you some how for that.

Some of these old Kohlers aren't that difficult to work on. The one I have (K301AQS) was my very first, and once I read the manuals better, I really didn't have that much of a problem working on it.

Knowledge is powerful. So is real 12 HP! ;)

Wind catcher: Today i finished it up. I found a good used deck belt, came from a friend who has around 30 or so Cubs in his back yard, and then i got to installing it. BUT---there were things in the way! So, i called Uncle Joe George, who is a local whiz on Cubs, and he came over and helped me put the belt on.
Now, you can imagine how many parts were messed up, bent, out of adjustment, all that, but i finally got it together and i chased leaves for an hour. I'll take it back tomorrow or Sat. And, that'll probably be the last one until spring. Thanks to all for the help they have furnished on the stuff i had troubles with, and i'll be here copying the mail.
Just had a visit by my bone-crusher Dr. of chiropractory, who came to pay his bill. He told me to keep on working-ain't no future in sitting down and dieing of boredom! And--who would fix his stuff?

Good to hear that Rusty. I've never worked on a cub cadet myself until this year. That also includes working on any Kohler engine too.

I can say this: International Harvester - the first manufacturer of Cub Cadets, did a bang up job of designing not only their tractors (Farmall Cub comes to mind) but the Cub Cadets too. They were designed so that the ordinary person with limited knowledge and tools could work on them.

I've learned so much by owning both a Farmall Cub, and now a Cub Cadet too. I can easily transfer what I know to my Simplicity too.
